1.) The kids do not own the land. They do not own the deed to that land. Honestly, nobody can own land, because it was all here long before we were. Boundaries and ownership are made up constructs for people who are too insecure to accept the truth.
2.) Nobody deserves to die because they anger someone. Nobody deserves to die because they killed a dog in self defense. Gandhi himself made it clear 'an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind' and history has proven this true several times over.
3.) In regards to the Iraqi killing a troop's dog... I hope to God that our troops have more morals than to kill, attack, or harass someone over a dog.
4.) Gang mentality is dangerous. Statistics show this, and studies show this. Your mortality rate goes UP if you are in a gang, not down. At their LOWEST mortality rate, gang mortality rates are equal to or greater than one standard deviation above the average. That is the LOWEST. So you cannot use the defend your own and cling to a gang argument as a good thing. The children were making a wrong choice to be in a gang in the first place.
5.)You commit the argumentative fallacy of Tu Quoque, meaning: a charge of wrongdoing is answered by a rationalization that others have sinned, or might have sinned. For example, Bill borrows Jane's expensive pen, and later finds he hasn't returned it. He tells himself that it is okay to keep it, since she would have taken his.
6.) You commit the argumentative fallacy of False Dichotomy: assuming there are only two alternatives when in fact there are more. For example, assuming Atheism is the only alternative to Fundamentalism, or being a traitor is the only alternative to being a loud patriot.
7.) You commit the argumentative fallacy of Appeal to False Authority. Mainly you indicate an ability to determine that the people were not just tourists but 'invaders.'
8.) In fact, by using the word yuppies repeatedly you have already committed the argumentative fallacy of emotive language.
9.) You commit the argumentative fallacy of Appeal to Common Practice: Similarly, a common justification for bribery is that "Everybody does it". And in the past, this was a justification for slavery.
10.) Arguement To Complexity was used by you in this thread when you claimed people could not understand the argument and should 'get out' indicating that they had less credibility than you because they just didn't 'get it' ...
11.) Appeal To Poverty fallacy: The appeal to poverty fallacy is committed when it is assumed that a position is correct because it is held by the poor. Example
(1) The working classes respect family and community ties.
Therefore:
(2) Respect for family and community ties is virtuous.
12.) The fallacy of Appeal To Consequences as a means to indicate if something is right or wrong.
13.) Moralistic Fallacy: ie. "This is how things are; this is how the world works."
14.) Bifurcation Fallacy: The belief that there are two options when there are multiple options.
15.) Subjectivist Fallacy:
This is the big one for you.
Here is the formula:
(1) Your argument concludes that p is objectively true.
(2) P is subjective.
Therefore:
(3) Your argument fails.
These are the reasons I feel your argument does not hold up. I hope this has been informative for you.
