Why did they make him 300lbs?
Its not intimidating what-so-ever.
shareHe made himself 300 pounds. Cookies are gooooooooooood!!!
sharebig guys are much stronger than skinny guys... for example, in a real fight, he'd trounce the new batman...
shareIt's kind of a thing. The heavier you are, the stronger you are, in general. I always tell people, "I'm fat, I'm not weak." I swing about 250lb@6'. I can't run a marathon, but I can move heavy stuff much better than fitness gurus for a longer duration. Mass works.
There are weak fat people certainly. That's a whole different thing. I've worked with a guy that weighed about 700 and he was strong as an ox. I worked with a different guy that was 750 and he had trouble getting out of his chair. I almost called 911 because he had to walk 100 feet. I thought he was having a heart attack but it self resolved. A dude that sat behind me was about 450 and he moved like a ballet dancer. Call center, go figure...
The other 750lb guy, never a trouble. 6'5" 750lbs one of the best guys I've worked with. He got a gastric bypass and he's 240lbs now. Lots of skin. Still a big SOB.
700lb! wow. That's extreme.
Mass helps to move mass. When asked, I recommend big guys to do squats and deadlifts. Then just a daily walk. They're already strong and get very strong very quickly with training.
They can add diet to get aesthetics if they're concerned about body fat
He got big to play Roger Ailes in The Loudest Voice. Maybe he was still fat while filming this movie.
shareThe Director asked Russell Crowe to gain the weight b/c the character was supposed to be an ex-athlete that let himself go.
shareThis makes sense then
shareIs this actually true or guesswork?
shareI don’t think the director asked Russel to become obese.
shareSo much for what you think!
He told USA Today at the time: “Ridley called up and said ‘Now, mate, would you mind putting on a significant amount of weight? I see him (the character) as an ex-athlete who has let himself go’.”

That was for Body of Lies, directed by Ridley Scott.
Unhinged seemed to be his own personal choice.
Nobody made him 300lbs. That's just how Russel Crow is.
