Now that the dust has cleared, think way back and tell me why...

you started to watch BE in the first place?

What was the draw?

Winter? Van Patten? The Scorsese tease?

Gangster show?

Some history that hasn't already been beaten to death in film/tv?

Buscemi fan? Pitt? MacDonald? Other cast members?

You'll watch anything that HBO rolls out at 9pm on Sundays?

What was it?

Hey, at least there'll be nothing to fight about in this thread

I started watching because I love period shows and loved Michael Pitt as an actor, I love history so seeing a show set in the 20s was fascinating to me along with the gangsters, seeing their early stages was interesting. I had just finished watching the Tudors and The Borgias and I'm also a Mad Men Fan, So I don't really care if the history has been beaten to death as long as it's interesting, I'll watch. I only subscribe to HBO at certain times, so I don't watch regularly, so anything they roll out on sundays I usually come across later. I do watch Girls though.

I enjoyed the subject, the era, that it was a gangster tale set close to home in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and it starred Steve Buscemi.

Big Steve Buscemi fan, and I love shows that are different - different era & subject matter and by the previews, they weren't going to half-ass it either. I like to get immersed in the storyline and captivated by the characters, and BE did that. It was hard at times to follow because of all the characters, but overall I did enjoy it, and feel it was a good investment to watch it. But now with this over and Mad Men about to be, I have nothing left to fill the void of a really great, well written, well acted drama.

I'm watching the show now on DVDs from the library.

What drew me to it was seeing good reviews and word-of-mouth. I also like Steve Buscemi, he's always interesting to look it ("These guys were real scum of the earth, not like you fine gentlemen!")

I'm not a big fan of gangster stuff but this show kept my interest.

to be honest the show i was watching Sons Of Anarchy gave a season finale brake and i was looking for somethings to watch till SOA's new season starts ,then i discovered that Michael Pitt and Steve Buscemi were in a same project again after years.
you know they played in a movie before and i follow Michael since Dawson's Creek :)i also love Buscemi

my first reaction was "wait Michael Pitt and Steve Buscemi are in the same project again?"

What drew me was the Scorsese tease and the era. When I heard that Scorsese's name was attached I was interested to see his take on Prohibition. It was also hyped to be the next Sopranos, which got me even more curious.

Then the characters got me hooked (mostly Jimmy and Richard)and I wanted to see where they would go with it in season 2. I'm glad I stuck around for season 2 because I thought it was exceptional television. It made me a huge fan of Michael Pitt, and got me tuning in to see if they could make the other season just as compelling as the first 2.

The script, the acting, the scenery, the era. I like to spend time with good quality shows like these. It's also educating to some extent.

It's an interesting period, with a somewhat unconventional starting point. The series started shortly after Sopranos, and I wanted more of the same genre. Also I'm a fan of Buscemi's, who was terrific for the role.
