Now that the dust has cleared, think way back and tell me why...

you started to watch BE in the first place?

What was the draw?

Winter? Van Patten? The Scorsese tease?

Gangster show?

Some history that hasn't already been beaten to death in film/tv?

Buscemi fan? Pitt? MacDonald? Other cast members?

You'll watch anything that HBO rolls out at 9pm on Sundays?

What was it?

Hey, at least there'll be nothing to fight about in this thread

reply

Buscemi + gangsters.

He was awesome in The Sopranos.

When I'm gone I would like something to be named after me. A psychiatric disorder, for example.

reply

I came solely for Michael Pitt. I stayed because it was just so damn good, and Michael Pitt was the least of it.

I'm a ghost and you know this

reply

Childhood summers spent on Absecon Island. Roaring 20s + gangsters + Buscemi.

Poets are made by fools like me, but only God can make STD.

reply

Crime stories whether it's gangsters, drugs, etc garners my interest, but REALLY garners my interest when it's arguably the best cast of all time, is HBO funded, and is backed by masterminds like Scorsese and Terry Winter.

reply

Buscemi starring in it was the first to draw me in, then the setting just after the first world war.

reply

Truth told, the first season was free on Amazon Prime Video and had a high rating. I got so interested I bought Seasons 2-4 and will buy Season 5 when it comes out.

The only actor I knew much about was the one who played Chalky. I liked him from "The Wire."

reply

Capone, Lansky, Rothstein, Nucky, Lucky, etc... the list goes on. I was already a fan of the prohibition/public enemy era, so I was already sold to the show's premise before knowing anything else about it.

reply

I started the series strictly as a fan of Martin Scorsese. I fully intended to just watch his directing skills at work on the pilot & then maybe catch an episode here or there before calling it quits. There aren't many TV shows I've actually stuck with.

Three episodes in I was hooked. Stuck with the series passionately until the very end. Loved every episode. My favorite American TV series.

There. It's on the Internet. Thus it's official

reply

Pretty much all of the above.

reply

Steve Buscemi, Martin Scorsese, from the writer and executive producer for the The Sopranos.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

Buscemi in a starring role. Great performances, time and again, in the last twentysomething years - and easily the best male lead performance on TV in the last couple of years (besides Jon Hamm in 'Mad Men').

reply

Kinda random but I knew Steve Buscemi from The Island and thought he was a great actor.

Also the genre was of interest to me.
