Imagine if IMDB was still up and running right now...LOL!

Could you even imagine the atmosphere?

I still remember how the DCCU zealots over there bragged about how "BVS will be a tidal wave that will wipe out the MCU and Star Wars" and how Justice League would "Destroy Avengers box office"...now here we are and it's looking like not ONLY will Justice League NOT beat Avengers box office--not ONLY will it not even MEET Avengers box office...it likely won't even crack a billion. XD

I'm sorry, but that's just sad. Very sad. Nowadays, it's expected of superhero even movies to do big business and a movie of this importance, scale and magnitude would be expected to hit $1 billion in its sleep.

I don't care how DCCU zealots spin this--Justice League failing to even hit $1 billion is a DISGRACE. This is supposed to be DC's Avengers...and it's not even doing as well as some of the solo films, BO-wise. That's bad.

It seems, however, that WB is now content with their DCCU and I guess they figure that, because the films turn a profit, that's good enough for them.

This is pathetic. I love both Marvel and DC and want great movies from both. Instead, I get nothing but winners from Marvel and nothing but critically-panned DC movie after movie.

We live in an era where Avengers can crack almost $2 billion while Justice League can't even crack 1. Any way you spin it--that's bad.

And this would NOT be the case right now had this franchise been handled by competent people, had competent actors been hired and had competent people been at the production, writing and directing helms.

Just embarrassing...

Hello Dteam :D

reply

Hello, Twisted. ;) How's it going? It's been a while.

Did I read this right? They're eyeing Jake Gyllenhaal as a Batman replacement? WTF? O_o Jake...Gyllenhaal?

reply

All is sweet.

Yep. But Jake will probably say "yeah.... no" if he has any ounce of decency.

reply

I've noticed that this site seems to be picking up a bit. This board even had a few IMDB-type trolls grow on it like a festering boil on a moose's a$$.

Yeah, Jake Gyllenhaal would be another terrible Batman--especially with those bug-eyes. Imagine a bug-eyed Batman with the cowl. O_O

reply

oh there the trolls around for sure. I just met a couple of them.

I like Jake, but dear lord, don't make him play a super hero.

reply

Actually it’s embarrassing that arguments like this even exist at all. Dc and marvel fanboys should hang their heads in shame. Just like Star Wars vs Star Trek, ps vs Xbox, pc vs everything etc etc.

Real fans of good entertainment should want both franchises to do well. The better they do the more it should force the other to do better. Then we all win. Unfortunately it seems like the guys running the dccu are all idiots. Rushing to catch up rather than just do their own thing. A missed opportunity, again.

Just my opinion.

reply

I'd love for both Marvel and DC to knock it out of the park. What a shame that DCCU just couldn't do it. They really should scrap this entire mess and start over but, from all indications, WB seems to be willing to continue shooting out mediocre content as long as foolish people run out to see it.

I've been watching every DCCU movie for free and will do the same for Justice League. These people don't deserve my money.

I just don't get it--you'd have to TRY to make the Justice League look bad and, boy oh boy, did they try hard...

reply

Yeah, I was hoping for DC movies to really be good. They have some major iconic characters to play around with but the studio just doesn’t seem to understand how they work. I love Marvel but I want to see DC match it.

reply

At least in the "Star Wars vs Star Trek" universe the recent Star Trek and Star Wars movies have had decent reviews, unlike DC vs Marvel where every year you're guaranteed at 3 movies from Marvel with good reviews and just one or two from DC that blow ass.

^^^^^

I think the one thing that is NOW undeniable and what would IMO be dominating the discussion if IMDB was still around is....

The box office results of JL unequivocally proves Audiences did it fact HATE BvS as much as Critics....

If you were a regular on the IMDB boards, youll remember, just as you said, hardcore DC simply went FULL retard with BvS, No fan base in the history of the internet trolled like Hardcore fans did with BvS, they went to every single big upcoming movies board and claimed BvS would Kill their film in box office, as you said, They made completely absurd predictions that BvS would literally end The MCU universe, They guaranteed BvS would Top The Avengers and JL would Top 2 Billion., from late 2013 to March 2016, hardcore DC fans went on the single biggest and most pathetic trolling rampage in the history of the Internet....

and Then IT HAPPENED...The review embargo lifted on BvS.....lol DC fans Literally had their DREAMS crushed..But in a shocking twist, something quite ODD happened.

DC fans literally could not except reality, They truly couldn't except BvS was awful and under performed at the box office, and thus became A truly weird time in history, where DC fans started coming up with Weird conspiracy theories for Why BvS wasn't really Bad, which included, Disney paying off critics, Rotten Tomatoes suddenly became "Biased and Unimportant", and the Crutch of DC fans Defense were "Audiences LOVED BvS"

these became the battle cry for DC fans, "Fvck Critics, Audiences Loved BvS", now I always found this ODD because literally not 1 thing pointed to audiences loving BvS, it got horrible audiences Scores and BvS had historic Box office drops due to POISONOUS word of mouth...

con. in next reply

reply

but if you were on IMDB....you'll know....despite all facts proving otherwise..."Audiences Loved BvS" became DC fans LONE Battle cry....

they completly ignored and refused to acknowledge that Critics hated the movie by simply Making up this narrative that "Audiences LOVED BvS" and Critics dont know what they are talking about.

well with this weekend Box office results for JL, We can finally put to bed those hilarious "Audiences Loved BvS" excuses from DC fans....

lol JL was completely REJECTED by audiences....JL was a direct sequel to BvS and literally almost 50% of the people that saw BvS didnt show up to see JL...

BvS opened to 166 Million JL is gonna open to 90 Million ish.....

that means BVS literally was POISON for JL, critics dont make box office, Audiences Do....and Audiences Literally didnt show up for JL....

this unequivocally Proves, "BOTH Critics and Audiences HATED BvS", When you literally have half of the Audience not show up for The Sequel, that means they hated the first film and didnt care to see the sequel.

IMO this would be Incredibly Fun to discuss if the IMDB boards were still going, DC fans spent so much time trying to convince themselves and Others that "BvS wasn't really bad, that Critics were biased and audiences LOVED BvS", and now here with JLs box office is undeniable Proof....that Nope, Audiences truly Hated BvS.

I dont even know where DC fans can go now....JLs box office is so astonishing low, Its literally indefensible....

I think if IMDB was up and going, the ONLY thing that DC fans could possibly do, is just go Full...FULL...FULL Retard and claim Box office numbers aren't being reported right, that Disney is paying box office sites to report JLs box office low....

lol thats seriously it, thats the only thing DC fans could do at this point

but Man I do wish IMDB was still around...no fan base in history Trolled like DC fans Did with BvS and JL, In the end, No fan base in history got BURNT Like DC fans did with BvS and JL

Hello billbrown!!!!

Nice to see you here... I still remember your thread on IMDB "The Final Insult For DC fans,It Officially Can't Get Any Worse lol" to which I contributed a little in those times. One of the greatest threads on IMDB in my almost 20 years as a member of the site. In fact, you can still see it here (I remember bumping it a few months ago).

dteam was a regular on IMDB and a critic of the deluded DC Zealots who twisted and went crazy with their conspiracy theories. We fought together against the Nolanites and DC fanboys who kept insulting other poster who didn't like BvS (the majority). The craziness there was of epic proportions: from death threats to critics and other fans, to doxing and violence.

Imagine all those crazy guys today. Well, there are some of them in this site, but they seem a little more tamed. Yes, reality is a bitch and it slapped them very hard this time. NO MORE EXCUSES!!!

reply

I remember those non-halcyon days of IMDB. It is one of the reasons that IMDB message boards are defunct. Civil discussions and movie debate became way too personal and movie discourse gave way to petty clan bashing. A few personalities dominated too much of the air and just as you said those parasitic few hopped from board to board with their delusional venom.

Was it at all possible that the Warner/DC audience for their films and their way of portraying their characters was smaller than they realized and not as accepted as they believed? Hardcore comic book fans are not the wide swath of the general mass media audiences. That especially holds true for Overseas. Why would the Fast and the Furious do so well? They are essentially superheroes that no one knew anything about. Cars and action translates most cultures and languages.

WB/DC fancies that their film products are love letters to their loyal fans. I beg to differ and they continue to craft a product for a limited few and claim that it is art and visionary. WB/DC hasn't found a mass audience beyond their Frank Miller fantasies.

BvS is and was loved by a select few and that isn't a debate.

reply

As usual, you've pretty much summed it all up, Bill. It's great to have you here. Your posts are always gold and impossible for the zealots to refute.

Yeah, I was a regular there--we even spoke a few times there. Not much, though. I was the one with the Mario avatars.

Great to see you over here--you've always been one of my favorite posters there--right up there with Twisted, Ranma, TJ and some others. :)

reply

Man I miss those days! Aside from predicting Man of Rehash would win a slew of Razzies, EVERY prediction I made about the "DCEU" has come true. My batting average is literally 99.9% when it comes to exposing Warner Bros. and Nolan/Snyder/Goyer's garbage.

I remember when I predicted four years ago that there would NEVER be a Man of Rehash 2 and the fanboys endlessly mocked me for it.

Who's laughing now, fanboys, who's laughing now?!

reply

Hi dteam6! I hope you are well.

Something told me this was going to be the time of the year in which many of us will meet again (JL opening weekend). All predictions seem to have come true.

I still remember this one:
https://moviechat.org/tt2975590/Batman-v-Superman-Dawn-of-Justice/58d94bd4d0a5ca001114bff9/I-REALLY-didnt-care-for-that-new-Justice-League-trailer

reply

Hey there, Ranma! I had a feeling, too. Now we have you, Twisted, BillBrown and ReelReviews. Too bad TJ couldn't make it. I told him about this site before and he always stated he might check it out sometime.

It's great to see all you guys again. :)

I wish we had TJ and Midas--then it would feel almost exactly like IMDB again.

As long as they keep producing this DCCU trash, we'll always be here for these reunions, LOL! ;)

I'm glad to see you guys all checked in on this thread. *Raises beer glass*

So, I watched Wonder Woman a few weeks ago for the first time. While it's definitely the best DCCU movie, that's really not saying much--I didn't like the movie. It was slow and felt like it dragged on about 30 minutes more than it should have.

I also take great issue with the way their stupid island is just "invisible" and how no one happened to stumble upon it during all those years until WWI.

There was also zero chemistry between Pine's character (I already forgot his name) and Diana.

For what it's worth, I think that Gal Gadot's physical acting is top notch. Her normal acting leaves a lot to be desired, though. Still, props to her for her fighting scenes. She truly acts like an Amazonian warrior.

For the most part, Wonder Woman felt like a ripoff of Captain America even down to the excessive shield use. Ugh! I half-expected the enemy soldiers to shout "Hail Hydra!"

Amazing that Gal Gadot could be the highlight of a Justice League universe...

reply

"...As long as they keep producing this DCCU trash, we'll always be here for these reunions, LOL! ;) ..."

Ha, ha, ha... Well, it seems we will have these reunions at least twice a year for many years... or maybe not (not because they will improve on their movies, but because most of their lineup might get scraped after the lackluster performance of JL). Meanwhile, we have to be grateful with DCCU for giving us the opportunity.

I am also glad to see the old guys here. Unfortunately, the opposition in this forum is as dull and uninspired as the DCCU effort. The tougher and more deluded DC Zealots are in another site. I know where they are and check on them from time to time. They are still obnoxious, deluded and aggressive. But that site is moderated by a DC/Man of Steel lover (Scaab) who does everything to hinder the efforts to counter these crazy DC fanboys.

For me WW was a good movie, but nothing as they made it look like. The reviews and critics seem to be more on the PC and feminist wave, not wanting to go against them in Trump's times for fear to something. Obviously, it wasn't enough to turn the table on DC universe.

reply

LOL! Yeah, this is NOT good for the DCCU. I'm not saying that it would be a realistic expectation for it to reach the box office of the first Avengers movie but, when all's said and done, it won't even come CLOSE to it. That is downright PATHETIC. It even seems to be up in the air if Justice League will even top Wonder Woman. BillBrown said it best: people just aren't thinking of Justice League as an event movie because of the way they blew it with BVS.

How sad is that, though? Justice League came before The Avengers in the comic-verse and The Avengers ends up making history while Justice League will be nothing more than a blip on the radar that is quickly forgotten. This was the first live action JUSTICE LEAGUE. It should have made history in the same way that The Avengers did...now that will never happen.

Ew, Scabab of all people ended up being the moderator? I remember that guy--he had that Dragon Ball avatar, right?

All I have to say about Wonder Woman is this: If that is the best thing the DCCU can possibly churn out then they're in trouble...BIG trouble.

reply

>>> I wish we had TJ and Midas--then it would feel almost exactly like IMDB again. <<<

Forget them. I wish we had Zodfrey and TheMightyThor2 on here. They truly exposed how awful Man of Rehash was. Those were the days!

reply

So, how do you feel with the DC/Fascist dictatorship of Scaab in that poor site? The guy is a known DC Fanboy/MoS lover. That he is the moderator of those boards are way over my understanding. Whoever put him in charge is dumb or a DC Zealot.

reply

<<<

He can't be as bad as the mods on the old IMDB.com page. They would let obvious troll posts from MOS fanboys with titles like "Petition to give Odum a brain" stand, but pull completely benign threads that made Man of Rehash look bad, like the one I wrote discussing how Zack Synder's films had gotten worse and worse reviews over the years.

reply

I was seriously thinking on creating an account in that site, but I realized I would be greatly outnumbered when this being, Scaab, runs the board as a DC fanboy.

The guy allows people to insult each other in personal levels (calling themselves homosexuals and so) but you create a thread about how JL is failing at the BO and he move it or delete it. Say something wrong against MoS and he jumps on your throat. Worse of all, he likes to defend DC movies but keep deleting post attacking them, which tells you he doesn't have the moral to do so, you cannot be judge and part on this. If he can defend DCEU, he has no right to delete or edit posts arguing against them. He just banned a guy for asking him to change the topic title of a thread to reflect the failing on opening weekend number for JL (after he moved and changed a new thread talking about this), and the guy he banned was a Senior Member. That Scaab is a tool. I just wish he gave the name he used on IMDb, so that all others know who he really is.

reply

Well I use MovieChat.org and IMDB2 now, and I us the same screenname I did on IMDB.com.

reply

Well, me too. However, I wouldn't recommend IMDB2 to anyone. Not with the way they are handling the moderators. That place is full of the more deluded, dumb and crazy DC Zealots of IMDB, starting with DCfan and Denisse "the coward" Reynolds.

reply

[deleted]

I wouldn't trust IMDB2 anyway. Any one of us registering there would basically be the same as us handing our personal information over to the DCCU zealots who so desperately want access to it.

reply

TheMightyThor2 really got on my nerves, to be honest. Zodfrey? That name sounds familiar but I can't seem to remember that poster for some reason.

reply

>>> TheMightyThor2 really got on my nerves, to be honest. Zodfrey? That name sounds familiar but I can't seem to remember that poster for some reason. <<

TheMightyThor2 spoke the truth, and the MOS fanboys couldn't handle it, so they kept trying to get him banned.

Zodfrey was active on the IMDB boards when Man of Rehash was released in 2013. He was post daily and weekly threads talking about how much the movie sucked. The threads had headlines like "MAN OF STEEL IS A CGI INFESTED HORSECRAP OF A MOVIE!". He drove the fanboys insane and really got under their skin. It was pretty funny.

reply

Whether or not he told the truth is beside the point. He came off like a blithering idiot and a troll of the first order. I hated MoS and I wanted TheMightyThor2 banned and castrated.

reply

I wish we had TJ and Midas--then it would feel almost exactly like IMDB again.

Ala kazam! Your wish has been granted (really should've wished for that ScarJo Gal Gadot 3some, dude...)!

I have not seen JL yet (hell I just saw Ragnarok this weekend) but I'm not pleased with what I'm seeing in reviews. I mean, it's not DC...Wonder Woman proves that (now THAT was a great superhero movie)....it's just that following Snyders' vision is a recipe for audience ambivalence.

reply

There you are! :D Yes, what was I thinking?!

Great to see you here, TJ. It just wouldn't seem right not to have you guys here. Now it feels like old times!...only without the fun of antagonizing the zealots, that is. :/

Unfortunately, I probably won't get a chance to see Ragnarok in theaters. I really wanted to but something much MUCH more important came up: My wife's citizenship interview and test was FINALLY scheduled for next month! :D Yep, she just needs to pass the test and then she'll be cleared to take the oath. At long last, right? ;)

How was Thor? It looks like it will easily be the best one. I'm not a big fan of the Thor series but this one was the only one I was excited for.

Yeah, so how about Justice League? I wasn't expecting it to do well but isn't that sad? Seriously, it's actually ridiculous how the JUSTICE LEAGUE could end up coming out with a whimper. It should have made history like The Avengers but nope--it's just another DC movie and not even gaining much attention.

The Avengers was an event. It was like a special event that MUST be seen in theaters. It was a piece of movie history much like the first Star Wars was. Justice League is nothing like that. It's stupid. Had it been in the proper hands, Justice League could have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with The Avengers...but that would have required the DCCU to have been in the right hands in the first place and we all know that wasn't the case.

WB rushed to the Justice League movie as fast as they could and the results are a mediocre Justice League movie that has failed to capture the same lightning in a bottle that MCU did with The Avengers.

This "hurry to Justice League!" idea was always a recipe for disaster...yet, still they did it and here we are with the exact result one would expect with a rush job.

They tried so hard to catch up with MCU when they should have just focused on making great movies.

reply

PS: And now the DCCU zealots can't even use the "our DCCU doesn't do end credits!" defense because Justice League has end credits scenes, LOL!

reply

Or “no one ever dies in the MCU!” (Welcome back Superman!) or “Whedon is too kiddie for DC” (didn’t see THAT one coming did you zealots?)...

Plus, thanks to Wonder Woman it doesn’t even need to be Marvel vs DC. Now it’s “just stop sucking. Wonder Woman showed it’s not the characters!”

reply

LOL! Don't forget the "the MCU always introduces some character cameo to tease one of their upcoming movies!" Say HELLO, Deathstroke cameo! LOL! Total idiots... XD

By the way, we decided to watch Thor: Ragnarok and it was a BLAST! I loved all the retro elements to it and how it had a lot of Guardians of the Galaxy "flavor" to it. Definitely the best Thor movie and definitely one of the best MCU movies.

reply

"And this would NOT be the case right now had this franchise been handled by competent people, had competent actors been hired and had competent people been at the production, writing and directing helms."

I spare most of the actors--Gal Gadot is horrible and as miscast as the Duke playing Genghis Khan but most of the rest could have been good if given anything with which to work--but yeah, you're basically correct. Snyder was the poison in this pill. This disaster of a universe is a consequence of studio suits who wanted to exploit these very valuable properties but knew nothing about them and turned the universe-building project over to a hack filmmaker who despises the characters. The characters themselves had no representation in the matter. JUSTICE LEAGUE is the biggest superhero film WB can make from the DC properties--nothing else even comes close--and it's going to finish significantly behind the current Marvel movie that features a b-list character. No way to spin that into anything other than a disaster and an embarrassment and it's the 5th one in a row.

(And yes, WONDER WOMAN, though critically praised and a big moneymaker, was godawful as well, a heroin-chic-model WW in a shitty remake of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, which brings us back to that problem on the creative end. TFA is one of the few really bad Marvel movies; if you're going to rip off a Marvel flick, why wouldn't you try to rip off one of the good ones instead?)

"Could you even imagine the atmosphere?"

I miss that atmosphere. MovieChat is a pretty cool place and FilmBoards is too. We need to promote the hell out of such places until they're built up--maybe get it back.

reply

It would be nice to get the atmosphere back to some extent. This place needs more traffic. IMDB, despite its toxic atmosphere, was rife with intelligent debate if you took the time to wade through the sewage.

reply

Wait...TFA was awful?

A pox on you!

reply

CA:TFA is a fantastic period piece that introduced a new Marvel character to the rest of the world with America in the title and wearing basically a USA flag.

That Steve Rogers trilogy is one of the best Comic-Book to movie trilogies that have great re-watchability making the first two movies even better after watching the 3rd.

reply

I like the cut of your jib, kid.

reply

Interesting complimentary reply, thank you.

For the record I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy older than you. :-) Seriously, way older.

Marvel deserves credit for CA:TFA. They didn't dishonor real soldiers fighting in WWII but honored Kirby & Simon's work by being true to why they created the character. Some viewers hated the USO scenes but they were tastefully done, humorous and showed the angst of Steve Rogers and how be bucked orders and wanted to do the right thing. That carried over well into Winter Soldier and Civil War.

But this is a Justice League forum and my discontent with the movie is that very lack of consistent character growth and the fact that Warner/DC hasn't allowed their titular characters to establish a connection with the audience through the imaginary world they inhabit.

Hmmmmm, you're quite the brilliant fellow to be using Pong as a computer for telecommunications. I bow to your advanced dotage.

Back on point.

I don't know exactly when I stopped reading Justice League but it had to be around 1964 or 65.

reply

You STOPPED reading it fifty years ago? You may not have given the book a fair shake....

reply

Alongside IRON MAN 2, it's one of the only iredeemably shitty flicks to come out of Marvel.

reply

In your opinion.

I’d put Thor 2, iron man 3 and Age of Ultron on that list before TFA

reply

This could set up Justice League 2 to do better though because audiences seem to like this one ok. This movie had the misfortune of following B v S, that probably explains why it has opened so poorly. There's still a chance it could do ok though from word of mouth, and overseas could be good too.

reply

You do realise this movie was more of a mess than bvs? This movie is nothing more than chewing gum for the eyes.

reply

Jesus! You Marvel fanatics act like the Marvel universe is absolutely flawless, well I hate to burst your bubble but the Marvel cinema universe has its fair share of cringe worthy moments... to name a few the emo Peter Parker's retarded little musical number as he's parading down the street in Spiderman 3, the embarrassing "dance off" number in Gay Lord's of Galaxy, and last but not least that atrocious remake of The Fant4astic.
So how about you Marveltards get off your high horse, the Marvel universe ain't all that.

Ummm, that's funny. I haven't seen ANYONE on this thread arguing "the Marvel universe is absolutely flawless". In fact, I haven't even seen anyone MENTION the MCU aside from you. How about MOS fanboys stop pretending ANYONE who criticizes this movie is a "Marveltard"?

Not sure why you're bringing up Spider-Man 3, as that film was made by Sony and is totally independent of the current MCU universe made by Disney. For the record, I didn't even remember that scene until people on the internet started sneering about how awful it is. I've since rewatched it half a dozen times on YouTube and I see no problem with the scene. It perfectly conveys how Peter Parker has become a douche due the influence of the black spider-suit.

>>and last but not least that atrocious remake of The Fantastic Fore.<<<

Okay, that one I agree with, but again, the POS Fantastic Four remake has nothing to do with the current MCU. It was made by 20th Century Fox, NOT by Disney or Marvel Studios. Bringing it up to bash the MCU would be like me bringing up The Return of Swamp Thing to bash Warner Bros.

>> the embarrassing "dance off" number in Gay Lord's of Galaxy <<

I also thought Guardians of the Galaxy was the most overrated Marvel adaptation ever. At least this time you managed to name an ACTUAL movie that is part of the MCU. Still, the fact it had cringeworthy moments won't change the fact that the Synderverse sucks monkey balls.

reply

Guardians is great, despite how bad the dance off scene was. One bad moment in a movie doesn't take away from it's greatness completely. If you're a comic fan, GOTG might disappoint because it basically reinvents the characters. It holds up well on its own though.

reply

The poster -- and other posters on these boards -- are simply speaking of movies based on Marvel Comics regardless of studio.

reply

1 - nobody says MCU is flawless.

2 - Spiderman 3 was NOT made by Disney and IS NOT in the MCU

3 - Fantastic Fore [1, 2 and Fant4stic] are NOT part of the MCU, and were NOT done by Disney

4 -I bet you prefer the awkward Enchantress "dance of the paralytics" scene in that bore fest called Suicide Squad, including the blue beam of trash in the sky, don't you?

You fanboys sure are obnoxious.

reply

If you bothered to read anything else I said in stead of getting all butt hurt about this piece of shit movie, you’d see that one of my problems with it is that it’s TOO MARVEL LIKE!

Maybe stop being the very thing you’re accusing me off, and start having a conversation instead of just being angry and calling people names. In other words, grow up!

reply

The dance off in GotG certainly trumped the dance number in Suicide Squad.

Oh, that’s right...zealots forget that scene.

reply

Well they're proving IMDb didn't have shit to do with tanking films through bad word of mouth, that's for sure.
