this show is officially shit

ep 3 is fucking [deleted by moderator] city. who thought it was a good idea to cast a black woman with a man's haircut as the lead? sorry, i don't care about these people. then she is also the partner of a white man who is like a 9/10? lol wut? i don't give a shit about white guys but i do want the female lead to be somewhat attractive. this is like the black people's version the fat white guy with a hot wife trope. this is too much. this show is ruined. i'm sorry it's fucking ruined. i skipped around too much to know. is that black woman's character suppose to be a male homosexual? that's the only thing that could make sense here.

reply

🙄GROW UP.

reply

i need to grow up because... i don't find an ugly ass black woman attractive? if a woman looks like a man, she's not attractive. that's how it works.

reply

WHO ASKED YOU TO FIND HER ATTRACTIVE?...THE WHOLE WORLD DOESN'T REVOLVE AROUND YOUR LITTLE DICK,BRO.🤔

reply

nobody asked me to find her attractive but in general, when we watch female leads, we like them to be attractive. that's why most female leads are also attractive in just about every movie/tv show.

i am a male human and i evolved to find "women" attractive. do you find men attractive? i'm sorry if you do but that's not how my brain works. it's normal to find women attractive. as a man, if i find male looking women attractive, there's something wrong with me. is that how your brain works?

reply

I DON'T FIND MEN ATTRACTIVE...I AM ALSO STRAIGHT AND ENJOY WOMEN....RIDDLE ME THIS?...WHY DO I LIKE PAUL NEWMAN,STEVE MCQUEEN,HENRY FONDA,SAM ROCKWELL,ETC MOVIES THEN?....I DON'T WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH THEM...YOUR "EXCUSE" IS STUPID.

reply

Even if you don't want to have sex with them of the reasons you like them is because they are fairly attractive.

Notice that you didn't list any ugly ass motherfucker?? :D

reply

STEVE BUSCEMI,PAUL GIAMATI,PHILLIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN,PETER LORRE,JAY AND SILENT FUCKING BOB.

reply

Yup, you're gay.

reply

I'M NOT...BUT,WHAT WOULD THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?...GAY PEOPLE ARE JUST PEOPLE.

reply

Rofl... this quip and the previous one gave me a chuckle. You lured him into naming the fuglies then smacked him with the gaydar.

reply

ONLY IF YOU CAN'T KEEP TRACK OF A THOUGHT OR A TOPIC FOR LONGER THAN TWO POSTS.

reply

Asom is closeted. Let him be.

reply

According to a number of Asimov experts, he intended most of the male characters to be female and black. He was quite progressive!

reply

Which is why he made that so clear in the novels???? Um OK. You got a reference?

reply

No, but most liberals today believe they speak for Asimov. They want a show not to make you think or entertain you but one to be diverse. Remember that diversity is our strength? Or that if you can see it you can be it? Liberals came up with those all on their own.

reply

Ah, you forgot the sarcasm font. :) I'm in no way against diversity in entertainment, but I also believe in honoring an author/creator's intent. If you want something different, create something different, don't take someone else's work and put your spin on it.

reply

guys like you only show up when they flip the white male characters. coincidence?

reply

Actually I pretty rarely post here, so no. Also I don't think I've ever posted about "flipping" characters before, so no there too. It's possible to agree with the objections to it for my own reasons rather than those of the racist, mysoginist trolls here you know.

reply

i said guys like you. it doesn't necessarily mean you do it all the time. still, you did it this time so what i said is true isnt it? if you had said you also go around arguing when they flip non white characters then you had a leg to stand on.

reply

I think my mother intended for me to a be fat black queer "chick" as well :(

reply

My parents were convinced I was going to be a chick. They even bought clothes... so I spent the first months of my life wearing pink clothes 😂

reply

I'd bang her, she has a great body ... and she's not ugly either.

reply

well she is attractive as a gay man. kind of a pretty feminine male face but as a female face, it's too masculine.

reply

Just like in the wild.

reply

I think the producers had in mind a different audience than the one you represent.

I think Leah Harvey is quite attractive to say the least. https://www.glamour.com/story/leah-harvey-foundation

Don't be sorry. Just watch something else.

reply

Exactly. Salvor Hardin was one of my favorite characters in the trilogy. Went from a white man to a black woman. I don't care how attractive she is. She should be a he, at the very least. It ruins the character, which puts a big dent in the overall series.

So I am watching something else.

Respect the source material. It's not hard to do. Except for liberals.

Respect the source material. It's not hard to do. Except for liberals.

One detail: Asimov was a liberal. These are wokes. There's barely any relation, any similarity being anything but coincidental. Liberals are mostly extinct nowadays, and the few ones that still exist, they probably avoid that word so they're not identified with modern left.

reply

Yeah, a lot of the old school liberals are now aligning themselves with the conservatives (e.g. Dave Rubin).

reply

Indeed, modern wokes use to label me as far-right, and I've said more than once that I identify with old school moderate left:

reply

lol same.

reply

Same here. Modern so called "left" is embarrassing. It's nowadays more a fashion than a conviction to belong to them.

reply

Yeah. I miss that left that was about social and sexual freedom, good public services, professionalism and a fair system. Best political ideas ever. The new one is just a pile of guys competing to see who whips himself harder while crying "Whites, we're so evil! We must pay!"

reply

Modern day flagellantism...

reply

first of all. fuck republicans. they're the dumbest fuckers in america right now. that's a fucking fact. when you stop dying to covid then you can cry about liberals. also if you've ever eaten shit from trump, you are forever a fucking idiot. second yes, salvor's character was too masculine and they couldn't switch the sexes without changing a large part of the story. so they made this woman masculine. how stupid is that?

reply

Well said. Republicans ruin everything, but mostly their own lives and families.

reply

Why I don't read source materials because then you have expectations to the show itself. Going in blind makes me more neutral to this series and so far I enjoy it.

reply

That's good for you. But for fans of the books, it is an insult. Imagine reading Lord of the Rings for years and then, finally, they are going to make into a film and they change the characters to make it more 'diverse'. People would be understandably pissed off.

reply

you don't have to be a fan of the books to know something is off. that character clearly has a masculine role. it makes no sense for it to be a woman and a masculine looking woman with a black man's haircut at that.

reply

> I think the producers had in mind a different audience than the one you represent.

Yeah, blathering psychopaths are such a small part of the demographic.

reply

You would know...

reply

actually, i can both not watch it AND rant too. amazing how that works. also who is the audience? black people and homosexuals? that's a small demographic for a huge budget show like this.

reply

Hmm, that angle and look I do find her cute in that. Then I googled her other images and then the 'not my type' took over.

reply

I was interested in the characters in the first two episodes, but this new bunch in the third episode are just plain not interesting. Not the white dude, not the masculine black lady, none of them.

And they just killed Hari, who's the lead of the series, in Episode 2 and that's it? And Gaal, who's the second-most-important character, was randomly jettisoned into space? And Raych randomly killed Hari for no apparent reason? And we're just supposed to forget about that? No thanks.

reply

i'm sure hari and gaal are coming back. still, yea those characters were boring as hell. i havent read the books but salvor hardin, who the masculine black woman plays, was suppose to be a man in the books. so i don't know what the fuck they're doing flipping her sex and making her a masculine woman. at least flip it for real and make her a woman. i suppose they couldn't because the story beats were too masculine.

reply

If they bring back the first two episodes' characters, that is good, I guess. But, Hari must be dead after getting brutally stabbed. And, why was he killed? It makes no sense. This series took quite a while to come out, and I was so hopeful for it. But, it's turned out to be mush. Of course, David Goyer, who directed the passive-aggressive/borderline sociopathic "Man of Steel" is behind it. He acted like 9/11 never happened and leveled a lot of Manhattan (I mean, we know, that's what "Metropolis" is) in massive clouds of 9/11 dust and crumbling buildings.

So, I pretty much give up on "Foundation." I am sure a lot of other people have too.

reply

I think they're going to bring back Hari as an interactive hologram ai character. In the books he continues to reappear in pre-recorded messages after his death, but that's not fancy enough for today times.

reply

Maybe watch the rest of the show to have the answer to your question? Such retardation... There are valid criticisms of the show but this "omg why X happen, I must know NOW" 50iq drivel is not one of them...

reply

Hari Seldon was not a significant character in the original series. He appeared in the first chapter then made periodic appearances as a holograph throughout the original trilogy. Gaal was also a minor character. Hardin, the Mule, Gorov and Mallow are the major figures in the stories. Seldon is the main figure in the prequels.

reply

I certainly have less interest in the show after ep3. There was a clear turning point in the narrative as they wrapped up the old storyline and settled firmly into this new future and setting. All the sudden I was watching an episode of the Expanse.

reply

No not officially shit. There has been no official announcement to that effect ipso de facto as we squeak.

reply

The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reports a 71% approval rating with an average rating of 6.9/10, based on 80 reviews for the first season.

This means that moviebuff00 is crap at rating TV shows. :)

reply

6.9 is very low for a show ...

reply

I don't think so.

reply

Ok, name a show rated around that, or lower, that you think it's good or very good.

reply

You made the claim that 6.9 is very low, you prove it.

This is a list of recent scifi series in Netflix, as an example.

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls093287909/?st_dt=&mode=detail&page=1&ref_=ttls_ref_typ&sort=release_date,desc&genres=Sci-Fi&title_type=tvSeries

Low-budget unknown TV shows seem to score in a range from 5 to 7, while normal/high budget shows score normally in the range 7 to 9.

It seems that right now the bottom-line for a normal/high budget TV show is 7. That's the minimum score you're supposed to obtain. 7 or lower means a shitty series, 7.5 is meh, 8 would mean good, 9 and above would mean very good. Right now Foundation scores between shitty and meh.

reply

Based on your link, the shows average out to about 7.13. It all depends upon the revenue it brings in to the channel and if they renew it for the 2nd of the planned 8 seasons.
