Are you serious? This movie is not realistic AT ALL.
And I'm in high school.
This movie is garbarge and the farthest thing from reality.

The movie was quite realistic about the cruelty of some people. The point of the film was to gather all the cruelest kinds of people at their worst; the vast number of them and their collective depths might have been exaggerated in the film, but they were supposed to be in order to make a point.
shareAnd Rusty, get a *beep* grip. Nessa DID stand up for herself at the end, the point of the film, but it's a little hard to do that at first when you're the subject of the whole school's mockery and your friend plays hot and cold with you the whole time.

I love how people think that this doesn't happen just because it didn't happen to them. Thats like saying Columbine didn't happen because there was no shootings at my school. That logic is very flawed. These teenagers are raised in a media enhanced world in which we focus our attention on what TV, movies and magazines tell us to focus on. The ideal weight for females, what our hair should look like, and so on. It works both ways for females and for males. More men have eating disorders today then ever before, they just are not as likely to be found out about like females. Body dysmorphia is a real disease, just like anorexia or bulemia. The girl in this movie obviously had issues with her weight (as seen in the beginning when she asks her mom if she looks fat) and the other girls knew that and preyed on it. Bullying is a mjor issue and has always been one in high school, it's just that people explected you to be bullied in the past and it was never taken seriously, even when people would get hurt. Suicide rates for teenagers have increased a small amount over the years but it is still the number one cause of teenage deaths. The bullying in this film is very realistic and probably toned down a bit from some of the more extreme cases documented. Most cases go undocumented, which is one of the major problems with studying and trying to find a way to stop it.
Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it didn't happen in your school to someone else, or that it didn't happen somewhere else.

I agree. It was unrealistic. Because I went through much, much worse. Try getting beaten at a school dance and shoved into a locker over night...

im supposed to be a senior in high school this year. i dropped out because of the bullying. it does get this serious and in some cases, not all, it does get this serious. you may not see it, but it does. very nasty things happened to me. and most people at my school had no clue about it.

You must be a bully yourself so you don't really think about people you put down!
