Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy

Does anyone want to review a script I wrote titled "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy"?

Here's the plot...
"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy"
Length: 120 Pages
Tagline: Fear has a chain reaction…
Plot: The year is 1971. The Vietnam War is starting to slowly come to a close. But on the homeland, strange things are happening, and people are disappearing around the areas of Travis County, Texas. There, six buddies going on one last camping trip for the sake of old memories are lured into Sheriff Hoyt and Thomas Hewitt’s clutches. A terrifying fight for survival ensues that eventually leads to one of the most shocking, depraved, and chilling endings in cinematic history. Can you handle the legacy of fear?
The Skinny: There is some violence (but its not overdone) and all the Hewitt family members are in it (including Henrietta and Jedadiah, where it explains their origins) and there is also a new family member named Edwin (in respect to Edwin Niel, who played the Hitchhiker brother in the original). Also, don't think you know the ending just because its a prequel...

So far over 300 IMDb users have asked to read the script and have had it sent to them!

**If you Private Messaged me with your e-mail I have sent you a confirmation message that the script has been sent. If you posted your e-mail on the message board your user name is listed shortly after your post under one of my posts, along with the other people who were sent the script at that time. Because there were so many users, the list of users on this post had to be taken away. If you asked for the script and it was never delivered for some reason please feel free to ask again. New readers, of course, are encouraged to read.**

Okay, rather than posting whenever I send the script to someone just check on the board above, which I will edit everyday, to see if you are one of the people who I have sent the script to. If your username is not listed, the script has not been sent to you. If you are not on there just let me know and I would love to send it out.

As to MattBomerFanGirl,

I am really glad that you like "The Family in the Hills" scripts, the three scripts which I believe are my most original and fun. However, I am currently unable to send these scripts to you because I am still in the editing stages of writing them. They have been written, but I do not feel comfortable sending these out to people for two reasons;
1. Although they have been written, I have not fully edited them all the way through.
2. Unlike "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy", "Friday the 13th: The Homecoming", and "The Hills Have Eyes 3", which are fan scripts I have written, "The Family in the Hills" is completely original characters which I own and are not fan scripts. Due to copyright laws, it would be nearly impossible for me to post these scripts on the internet where any can read them. If you would like to read, I have provided a brief synopsis below about each script.

"The Family in the Hills" Trilogy
"The Family in the Hills" - The first of the three stories takes place in Chattanooga Valley, Georgia, in January of 1977. The plot is structured to pay tribute to classic thrillers and horror films of the 1970's, such as "Deliverance", "The Hills Have Eyes", and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" where a group of kids are tormented by a sadistic family of social outcasts who happen to be living in the Georgia mountains (hence the title 'Family in the Hills'). Although this sounds like a copy of the films listed above, it is not at all and much of the story revolves around social and economic problems throughout the 1970's, and the story and scenes are structured in a way that important songs of the 1960's/70's would play a huge role. The story is also written in a dark, dry, and grainy way leaving the audience with a disturing pit in their stomachs. Also, much like the films of the 1970's, this story revolves around the character's emotions and personal lives, which drive the plot more than the murders which occur. Other films that have tributes are "Halloween", "Dirty Harry" series, "The Godfather", "Straw Dogs", "The Last House on the Left", "Rocky", "Raging Bull", "Marathon Man", and mostly "The Deer Hunter".

"Family Feud: The Family in the Hills 2" - This sequel is more violent than the original but its violence doesn't have the impact because it is also more absurd, much like the violence of 1980's horror films. And that's its point, to pay tribute to the campy era of horror, such as "Friday the 13th", "A Nightamre on Elm Street", "Prom Night", "Child's Play", "Slumber Party Massacre", "Just Before Dawn", "Sleepaway Camp", and countless others. The story picks up in June 1989 Hollywood, where the surviving family members from the first have taken cover in the city life and have been able to stay cool. But a murder places a detective hot on their trail, and leads them on the run with a bus full of young, beautiful Hollywood talent into the desert. However the real story picks up when the family themselves are attacked by inbred mutated people living in desert just east of Los Angeles. The bloody battle really gets underway as both the family and the mutants fight each other and begin to hunt down the kids who are caught in the crossfire. This story also has important songs, but the songs are much campier with their scenes and will almost make you laugh. This sequel is a more enjoyable and entertaining splatter flick that takes movies like "Rambo", "Predator", "Terminator", "The Breakfast Club", "Batman", and "Alien" and grabs them by the balls, not letting go and mocking them in the process.

"Family Reunion: The Family in the Hills III" - The third (and hopefully final) part of the series starts at a college campus in New England in 1998, where the final two family members are trying to redeem their past by starting over. They haven't killed since the last story and are try to start over with new romances and by actually helping people get through rough times. But just when they thought it was finally over, a serial killer on the campus begins murdering people using past serial killer's MO's, and one of those MO's leads back to the family's original murders, which leads the two family members to get arrested. But after a breakout, the family's out on one last road to catch a killer, outsmart the police, and go down in history as the people who just couldn't escape their bloody pasts. "Scream", "I Know What You Did Last Summer", "Die Hard", "Urban Legend", "Titanic", "Mission: Impossible", "Sleepers", "Lethal Weapon", "Batman Returns", "Basic Instinct", "Seven", "Silence of the Lambs", and of course "Forest Gump" all have references, with some good 90's songs to keep the story moving.

Here is another review

Let me first start out my review by stating that I hate “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” movies, and I only watched “The Beginning” because I have a huge crush on Matthew Bomer (oh those eyes) and I am a horror aficionado. While I didn’t mind “The Beginning” as much as the old versions, I still found it to be the same story told over and over again with one dimensional characters running into a family of freaks in the middle of nowhere. However, as I said I love horror movies, and even though I find Leatherface to be an idiot, you have to remember that he came before Michael, Jason, Freddy, Chucky, or Hannibal – he was the first slasher king. A horror fan must respect that, and I had heard great reviews about your script “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy”.

Okay, I do have to say that this script is way above average and is written better than any past “Chainsaw” film or the dozens of knockoffs (“House of Wax”, “Hills Have Eyes”, “Wrong Turn”, “House of 1000 Corpses”, etc.). Unlike those other films, you actually cared for the characters and felt remorse towards their deaths (I was much more heartbroken for Justin and Zeke than I was for Paris Hilton). So that’s a plus to the story, the protagonists of the film. I really liked all the group members, and I wouldn’t have minded a movie just about them trying to reconcile. It was a great background that really gave depth to the cast. Any director and actors would love to have a script where they could play these characters. Oh, and by the way, props to the conflict between characters – it worked!

While the heroes of the story were good, I found the Hewitt family to be exactly what they were in the other versions – lame and boring. I couldn’t stand that Sheriff dude in the other films and I couldn’t stand him in “The Legacy”. I don’t find him humorous, just annoying. I also didn’t like the new family member, Edwin, who was just plain old weird and seemed to make the story superficial. I was so glad when he got what was coming to him though. Leatherface, as usual, was just some bizarre goof wearing other people’s skin and carrying around a chainsaw. At least you didn’t attempt to explain more of why Leatherface carries power tools around and wears human flesh over his face. The guy in the wheelchair and that old lady were sort of useless if you ask me, and the sick sister was someone who I really don’t have an opinion on. The kid (I think his name began with a J) was a well written character here and I liked him, while that fat chick who hits Sean with a frying pan was at least funny.

The gore was good and tasteful, but there was a lot of it. You certainly delivered a ‘chainsaw massacre’ with a good amount of torture involved. I found the scene with Justin and Zeke in the basement to be intense but also unnecessary to the plot. The dinner scene was just another repeat of the dinner scene from the originals if you ask me. My favorite death was when someone got stabbed in the groin and then had an axe struck down upon them – ouch! And the chainsaw through the head was okay. The chase scenes were better than the chases in “The Beginning” but I still think that a man running with a chainsaw is just nonsense.

I really wish I could read your other scripts, like “The Family in the Hills” trilogy or “The Hook” or “Surgical” because I enjoyed your writing and sense of tension however I can’t stand another Texas chainsaw massacre with some big oaf and his inbred family terrorizing all-but-too-good looking young people.

I really don't care to recieve a copy of your script, but I'll say this:

I can tell from your plot summary that you're a good writer, so good job on that. I can also tell by the plot summary that you've written a bland, tired piece of garbage. The TCM series has grown very old, and should be laid to rest while people still remember the original for what it is, which is, an incredible masterwork.

You've got talent, but don't throw it away on writing this sh!t. Don't waste it on writing a prequel of a series that already has a ton of movies in it. Write something original, and it'll be great, but please, don't just trash it by writing something that's already been done plenty of times.

I can say honestly, as a writer myself, I used to write things that tied in with other films, but then I realized that they all sucked. All the plots were basically the same thing as the movie, except with new people and set at a different time. Then, I realized that they were still well written, and started writing my own works (by the way, I've written one novel, putting the finishing touches on it, and three films, that I'm also directing, producing and starring in).

You can't argue with my logic! Well, you can, but I won't listen!
