So who was the most irritating and pointless character?

I would definitely say Erin. She shouldn't have been part of the show at all. She was made overly stupid and naive, and she didn't look funny at all. Completely redundant and unfunny character. Don't know whether it's the actor herself or what's the reason, but damn her character was poorly executed.

HATED Robert California (creep) and DeAngelo (really made no sense as a character). Kathy was pointless as well. I also did not like CHarles Miner, which is interesting because Stringer Bell is one of my favorite characters of all time. Also could have done without Nelly.

Hated Deangelo!! How I hate Will Ferrell!. Useless character. Maybe they were testing Ferrell out as the new actor for the manager character.
The one I hate the most was Karen! Getting in between Jim and Pam -REALLY aggravates me.
I always want to skip her eps but don’t want to miss out on Michael.

Nellie was the worst character in the entire show's run. God she was just awful. Totally unfunny and not a part of any interesting or meaningful storylines.

One of the most easily correctable mistakes of Season 8 would have been to have Andy fire her in the season finale. It was the perfect pay-off for the storyline and instead they had Andy wilt in front of her. I think it would have significantly changed the complexion of the season if Andy had returned to the office in the season finale and fired her.

Gabe. He was hard to look at and listen to. They never really explained what his job position was or what he was doing there. He basically stalked Erin after she dumped him and was a total creep.

Corporate liaison to the branch.

Get on the scale son! Get off the scale.

Gabe, Nellie, Charles Miner, Deangelo Vickers, and Robert California.

I haven't rewatched the latter seasons, but I remember that while they were airing I absolutely loathed Nellie, with a passion. She was never funny, she was never relevant, but she kept stealing screentime for some reason.

Meredith. I thought all the other characters had some sort of redeeming quality but Meredith was really just human garbage.

Absolutely shocked that Erin, Ryan, and Toby got hate before anybody called out Meredith. Those aforementioned characters are among my favorite in the show but there was not one single time I ever found Meredith funny. Not even a chuckle. Maybe it's because I didn't like that actress that played her, but nothing about her was in any way funny.

reply

To each their own. I thought Meredith was funny as heck. No more or less than the other good side characters, I mean.

Toby is an enigma.

It took me a _long_ time to start liking him. I always thought he's depressing, annoying, irritating and unnecessary, and I could understand why Michael hates him, even if it's not directly explained.

Nowadays I see Toby, and I know something hilarious is going to happen. Toby is the most funny, pathetic character in the show, and I enjoy seeing him now. There's always a good chance Michael will come to yell at him or something.

Erin is a 'pleasant' character - who doesn't enjoy someone cheerful, even if they are a bit useless or redundant?

Meredith works as an 'ugly, horny, alcoholic witch' that can always do something freaky or unpredictable, like catch fire or something.

Gabe is funny and weird, and I like his screen presence.

Charles Minor is just boring, and comes off as a bully.

Talking about Erin here :I didn’t like her at first, but she’s not that bad. But she goes from playing a real ditz to someone who’s grounded and acts superiorly to everyone.

I haven't seen this show in recent years, but I clearly remember having disdain for Erin. I don't know if it was the actress herself or what the case may have been. I just couldn't believe the blowjob girl from YouTube was on a hit TV show.

I think the writers were intentionally trying to make her seem like the female version of Michael. It didn't work. Matter of fact, it annoyed me to no end. She wasn't funny, and her "humor" was often received negatively by persons such as myself.

I would've voted for Gabe, but I didn't give two hoots and a holler about the character.
