Why cant foreigners make Films in English ?

After recently seeing this movie I would like to say that it had some good scenes and the actor who played hitler was great but what offended me to no ends is what was the language(I know it was germany related)but why not in the american language-English?

This fact bothered me so much that I gave it a 2/10,as I said...the only redemption was hitler.
The action scenes were poor or hardly present(compare it to saving private ryan's action!!!)
Dont you think that making it in english would have benefited the producers and the film itself what with a wider release and better Box office?
I do not think there are any americans on this board because no one must have heard of it(european film for europeans) but making this in english would have proved beneficial to the film

I think the better question is why don't Americans make more films in German! Just think of how much better Transformers 2 would do in Europe if only they had the decency to put in in German or Italian. Why not stop there? I think all Hollywood movies should be done in Swahili!

I loved you in Wall Street!

For the TS.

Oh I don't know, because it's foreign? There's a thought!

The world doesn't revolve around English speaking people.

I want Transformers 2 in Swahili !!! ... it might make more sense ... LOL

I'm an american and would just like to say to non-americans DO NOT think we're as moronic as this original poster. The movie absolutely should be in german. It was brilliantly acted and given that it was a german film taking place IN germany, why the hell would it be in ANY other language? Absolutely retarded subject line.

Are you for real? How old are you? Product of the public school system, eh?

reply

It's really impressive that a topic like this one got two pages of discussion. IMDb is REALLY loaded with trolls... lost cause.

reply

didn't you miss car chase scenes too? and alien monsters? I mean, that would've been even more fun, right?

When I go to the movie theater, I want to watch a decent movie, wherever it come from and whoever made it. If I watch an American film, I want to hear Americans speaking their own language. If I watch a Japanese or Korean film, I expect the characters to speak in their native languages, although I can't speak Japanese or Korean. If I watch a film about Hitler's downfall in his bunker, fighting the approaching Russians, I expect him to speak in German and not in English, French, Spanish or Swedish. This is what makes things sound real. Language is as important as the images. Dubbing films is a terrible invention, subtitles are an excellent compromise to be open to other cultures.

Your first post might have been the result of youth and inexperience. Fair enough (though your comment about the lack of actions scenes was lame - if you expected a standard war film, you'd better stick to Rambo). But your second post is so stupid, presomptuous and full of inaccuracies regarding movies, history and international politics that you are taken only for what you are: not much.

Your name should be 'wrongager' because you obviously can't read yet - in Europe that would mean you are 4 , in the U.S. 14 !

That which does not Kill me makes me Stranger . . .

This thread is just as stupid as Der Untergang would be if it were in English.

At first I thought this was a joke, or bad trolling perhaps, when I first read this post. First of all, filming this, a foreign film, in English would completely take away from the fact that the film is supposed to be /foreign/. Second, having the film in German adds to the authenticity, and just because you are so lazy as to whine about not having the film industry cater to your liking by having the film in English (and why, so you don't have to make the effort to read subtitles?) makes me completely ashamed to live in the same country as you. Finally, if you really based your rating of this film largely on the fact that this foreign film was not filmed in your native language, then you really are an imbecile.

reply

As a so-called "foreigner", I applaud your put down of that imbecile.
