Why cant foreigners make Films in English ?

After recently seeing this movie I would like to say that it had some good scenes and the actor who played hitler was great but what offended me to no ends is what was the language(I know it was germany related)but why not in the american language-English?

This fact bothered me so much that I gave it a 2/10,as I said...the only redemption was hitler.
The action scenes were poor or hardly present(compare it to saving private ryan's action!!!)
Dont you think that making it in english would have benefited the producers and the film itself what with a wider release and better Box office?
I do not think there are any americans on this board because no one must have heard of it(european film for europeans) but making this in english would have proved beneficial to the film

The simplest way I can reply to the original post is this:

1. The reason why the German film DER UNTERGANG is in the German language is because it is a German film, hence made in Germany where the population speak German. This applies to any other film that is not in English.

2. Your use of the word "offended" offends me.

3. It is not an action film, hence why "The action scenes were so poor or hardly present".

4. "Better box office" is relative. For what it's worth, I highly doubt this was the motivation for making the film in the first place.

5. The film is well known outside of Europe and did gain the Oscar nomination that you infer it missed out on.

As for the 'American Pride' rant you sprouted, it would seem that your grasp on current affairs and history are to the same standard as your taste in film. There's no point in going into it, as others have already, but the fact is both your statements are false. It's also ironic that you bash negative American stereotypes while simaltaneously perputuating them.

And as a final note, the excuse made for the OP that his age explains these views is bull since I first saw Der Untergang when I was 17 and believed it was a masterpiece then. Age is never an excuse for ignorance and stupidity.

If those were my last words, I can do better.

I suspect as well that the OP is one of the people who complained about "The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas" not being in German, or at least with actors speaking in a "German" accent.

you are dumb, in Europe we care about the accuracy.
Hitler spoke German in real life so why would he speak English in a movie, just to please Americans?
That is the beauty about European film, the original language!

not everything has to be done in english so you can have an easier lifestyle. This is not an American film, that is why it's not in english. Just because America makes things easy by putting spanish on every set of instructions and as sub-titles in movies, doesn't mean other countries are going to go out of there way to make it easy for you. Personally, I think by a German movie actually being in German with English subtitles (thank you by the way) it makes the movie more enjoyable and more nostalgic to there heritage.
