1. Irreversible (rape scene)
2. Ichi the Killer (nipple slice)
3. Oldboy (after you find out she was his daughter)
4. tetsuo the iron man( the whole movie is *beep* up... i love it)
5. Cannibal Holocaust (all animal killings)
I have alot more such as Men behind the sun etc, but i only said 5 lol. What are the hardest scenes in a movie for you to watch?

I personally am a guy who actually enjoys watching "shocking" scenes/movies and I'm constantly looking for more and more shocking scenes/movies. And I'll admit, I'm sort of a sick f^ck so I can stand pretty much any gruesome, sick, or horrific scenes but if I had to choose one that made me just go "damn, that's hardcore" is the scene when they were eating excrements in Salo

rape scene in Irreversible was the main reason why I bought the movie and I love it every time I watch that scene

reply

Cutting Moments - where the woman cuts off her own lips with scissors...

This movie was a series of 5 shorts, Cutting Moments being the last one. The other 4 were *beep* but this one was worth the wait - if you like thats sort of thing.

reply

trada122, have you tried watching Vase De Noces? If you're after shocking scenes, I hear it has some of the worst.

HE THRUSTS HIS FISTS AGAINST THE POSTS AND STILL INSISTS HE SEES THE GHOSTS.

reply

No worries, I'm sort of on a search too. I made a thread here people listed some good suggestions - http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000122/nest/159305494

I am free in all the ways that you are not

I can handle gore way more than things which are uncomfortable/disturbing/unpleasant.

1. Irreversible - Rape scene. Just the most unpleasant thing ever committed to film.
2. The Devil's Rejects - Motel scene. Wife raped with gun in front of husband. Puking. Point-blank headshots. Just appalling.
3. This Is England - Combo attacking Milky. Stephen Graham was so convincing as a racist skinhead that this scene felt all too real.
4. The Hills Have Eyes - Trailer scene. While this was a fairly tame rape scene, Lizard holding the gun to the baby and then suckling from his mum was just horrible.
5. Saw III - Ankle smashing. As I said, gore doesn't tend to bother me, but this scene went right through.

Off the top of my head.

reply

YES to number 4. I can't believe this doesn't some up more often. I felt sick watching that scene. And then in the same scene weren't someones brains blown all over the trailer?

Does it run in your blood, to betray the ones you love?

reply

I found the fire extinguisher scene just as agonizing to watch as the rape scene. A vote also goes to people eating feces in Salo.

reply

5. Audition (the end torture scene)
4. Inside (the very last scene, burnt woman holding baby)
3. Martyrs (getting skinned alive & the ending in general)
2. Cannibal Holocaust (the turtle killing)
1. Antichrist (genital mutilations)

I did not like and would not bother watching 'Cannibal Holocaust' or 'Inside' again. Just not enjoyable to watch in any way. I did like 'Martyrs,' it kept me watching, wanting to know more of the story even though it was not easy to watch.

'Audition' was the first Miike film I'd ever seen so it will always be the most disturbing to me. Plus, you really don't see the ending coming because the beginning is so light and easy to watch.

'Antichrist' is a masterpiece. A perfect example of how horror can be art. As long as I can look away during the genital mutilations, I could watch that movie again and again and still love it.

I also have to mention 'Funny Games' & 'The Hills Have Eyes' (2006) - two films that had extremely disturbing scenes, though did not make my top five, they are films that I love and own copies of.

I have not seen Old Boy, Salo or Irreversible but am interested in seeing them now, just to see if films get anymore disturbing than the ones I've already seen.

The question is, are these films enjoyable to watch or just straight up disturbed?

reply

Irreversible to most people is disturbing but I thought it was kick-ass and epic

Salo is one of the most disturbing film I've seen in quite a long time

I wouldn't say because of the stuff they do, but that movie got me psychologically

but I still do consider Salo a masterpiece

Once Upon A Time In America - the second rape scene.

If you still haven't seen Oldboy please please please see the the Korean original, Spike Lee's remake was an utter crap.

Fanboy : a person who does not think while watching.

reply

I think I actually had seen the original Old Boy when I first wrote that but must have gotten the title confused. If not, I watched it right afterwards. I also made the mistake of watching Spike Lee's joke of a remake. Thankfully, it was years after first watching the original.

"A Serbian Film" i heard is very and i mean extremely disturbing. 250 people participated in the viewing of the film (some festival goin on) and by the time it was over, only 8 remained. Even though it is graphic, it all has meaning and some people call it a masterpiece. I want to see this film so bad. (spoilers ahead) A review said the tamest scene in the whole movie involves a woman getting her teeth ripped out and then giving a bj to a guy then after awhile, chokes to death in her own blood. That is the tamest scene the film has and that is what i call hardcore.

reply

@movie_music_fiend90:

I just looked up and saw trailer for A Serbian Film and my god, it looks amazingly good

and my god, if that is just the tamest scene, I think I just found my favortie horror/gore/slasher film of the century

reply

Glad you looked it up trada122. The film will be epic in the sickest way possible. Lets hope it finds an american distributor so we can see it in the states.

reply

I highly doubt I will be even able to catch that movie at the theaters(as I never get to catch all those great foreign films)

so most likely I'm just gonna be waiting for the US dvd release

but if somehow I can watch that at some theater, I would be jumping in joy and bashing my head in a wall to see if it's not just a dream

you see, I live in Southern California(Orange County to be exact) and it's hard to find movie theaters with limited releases

I never in my life got to see any limited released films AT THE THEATER; I would always have to wait 'til it comes out on dvd

which sucks, because I'm a movie buff and I live in a town where they only show you the mainstream stuff and I have to admit, recently movies have been sucking so much and most of them, I ain't even interested(hell, the last MAINSTREAM movie I saw at the theater was The Shutter Island)

but yea, I do hope that some American distributors pick up this film(fingers crossed)

although I do have a bad feeling that Hollywood might remake this if it IS exposed to the states, just like they're doing it with "Let the Right one in" remake

reply

I know what you mean bro. I want to see so many of these great foreign films in the cinema but they are never available for viewing in Michigan. Im sure they are, but most far away. I would kill to see this and Enter The Void in a cinema.

reply

what a coincidence!

this another guy I met on imdb also was telling me how he is so excited to see Enter the Void

He's like showing me the Japanese trailer of it and I have to admit, it looks pretty amazing

After watching Irreversible, I have mad respect for Gasper Noe

Most likely, Enter the Void is gonna be a great follow-up to Irreversible

I can't wait either

reply

I was buzzing on that film before sxsw...i really want to see it but it is turning out nearly impossible.

"i did it like this. i did it like that. i did it with a wiffleball bat."

Salo (Poop, rape, pediphillia and made in the 70's!)
Gummo (cat killings, mental retardation sex exploitation)
Inside (Bloody, so bloody)

Disco Pigs (very upsetting love story)

On the thread itself, cause it is quite obvious their is goin to be some spoilers floating around with a topic like "Top 5 movies with the hardest scenes to watch." Not trying to sound like an @sshole or nothing.

You guys are backwards. I find films that suck to have the hardest scenes to watch. For instance watching Rebecca Gayheart try to act in any scenes in that film Jawbreaker. That was like listening to a screetching chalk board the entire time. Now that is hard shyt to watch peoples. This film was easy to watch, it has effect yes, but still I thought it was easy to watch. It was harder to digest this film mentally and emotionally than it was to watch with the senses in my view. Maybe that's more what you meant really, but still, easy to watch, difficult to be open minded enough to let this story really set in however.

My body's a cage, it's been used and abused...and I...LIKE IT!!
