These 2 movies are quite similar to each other. What do you find a better movie and please explain why?

Amores Perros, "Crash" bugged me.

Amores Perros was more humanistic and believable, while Crash was preachy and basically not as good as Amores Perros

reply

Amores Perros because it is A LOT less cheesy.

Both movies are excellent but "Crash" is more light than "Amores Perros". Also, "Crash" tried to be a huge mainstream hit while "Amores Perros" wasn't intended to be a hit outside Mèxico.

Amores Perros by a MILE. Not that the two are that similar beyond the idea of overlapping stories.

amores perros...

paul haggis has always been a tv director and it shows in crash...inarritu on the other hand is a natural born movie director...

reply

everyone likes AMores better yet crash beat it by almost .5 points, why?

reply

more people have seen crash

reply

there's no competition.Amores Perros by a thousand miles.
crash is just a pretentious, little movie that stinks. Even other films with the similar narrative structure, such as Magnolia, Grand Canyon, are MUCH MUCH better than crash.

reply

i agree with flipflop

reply

Crash is good but Amores Perros is deeper, more atmospheric and more complex.

So i vote for Amores Perros.

reply

this is a much better film.

Amores Perros or Crash?

Magnolia.

reply

Amores Perros is better... even though Crash was a great movie IMO.
I agree with the poster above that said that Magnolia was the best of the 3!

No comparison at all.

Amores Perros for sure.

Amores Perros is an outstanding film by an outstanding filmmaker. The stoires truly connect, the characters are real, the direction was perfect.

Crash is overhyped, simplistic, sterotypical, unintentionally racist, unintentionally funny crap. How it got so far is the biggest mystery in the movies to me, that it beat the great Brokeback Mountain for the Oscar is a disgrace (and Oscar's biggest shocker; no film as honored as Brokeback had ever lost). The self-important, preoposterous voiceovers ("people CRASH into each other every day") are the least of it, here is a "poll" that circulated thru the internet shortly after the Oscar upset:

Which of these events in Crash was the least
plausible?

Farhad fires blanks after Daniel tells his daughter about the Magic Cloak.
Officer Ryan saves Christine from the exploding car after molesting her.
Anthony discovers the Chinese immigrants and saves them.
Officer Hanson shoots Peter and burns the car. 2
Maria is Jean's only friend.
Officer Hanson happens to save Cameron from getting shot, after Officer Ryan molests his wife.
The Chinese man survives being run over (and over) by Anthony and Peter.

Answer: all of the above. The Academy has lost the shred of credibility it once had. Even with homophobes like Ernest Borgnine and (gay?) Tony Curtis loudly pronouncing they and the senior membership of the Academy refused even to watch Brokeback "because John Wayne would roll over in his grave", it still doesn't explain how the xenophobic simplistic Academy could embrace "the great straight hope", a film so fully of stereotypes that it destroys the message it intended to convey.

No comparison here whatsoever. Neither film is liner, it ends there.
Amores Perros ****
Crash *1/2
