What's the saddest part of the show for you?

As funny as this show was, it was also really sad at times. The saddest part of the show for me was when Sam finds out Cindy is not the girl of his dreams after all. While I watched the show for the first time there were sad moments however, I always said to myself, don't worry Sam and Cindy will fall in love But once they're in that theater you know things are starting to go south. This show showed how things don't always work out in the end and I loved the show for that but sadly, that's probably why most people didn't watch the show.

So many sad moments because they were all so real. may have been discussed already, but in "The Garage Door" when Sam and Bill tell Neil about his dad hugging that other woman

Neil: oh shut up, Bill. You don't even have a dad!
Bill: Yes, I do, I talked to him three months ago!

and then he kind of trails off and looks down. that broke my heart a little. Bill was easily the sweetest character in the whole show and I kind of hated Neil a bit for being so mean

A lot of them have been mentioned already, but there were some more subtle moments that stuck out for me, like when Bill's mom comes home and talks about how little money she made at work, Bill worries she has to start stripping again.

Also in the pilot episode when Lindsey is talking about how she was with her grandma when she died and how scared she was.

a lot of people have mentioned different aspects of Neal's father's infidelity, and the whole situation is sad, but the saddest part to me was when Neal talked to his brother about it and found out that his brother already knew but hadn't told him. so not only was his father risking the stability of their family, but his big brother didn't even bother telling him. (i know that wasn't Barry's reason for not telling Neal, but that's probably how i would have taken it if i were Neal.)

another scene that made me sad is at the party when Daniel is looking at Lindsay's awards and says, "if i ever won a blue ribbon, i'd be so pumped." oh the feels!!

have you tried that crazy wrap thing?! http://erinleighmckenzie.myitworks.com

The entire sequence after Lindsay goes home with Kim. The darkest moment on the show with the possible exception of Bill almost dying.

The other parts would be all the stuff with the Geeks and girls. When either Bill or Neal (don't remember who) says "Will girls ever like us?" Or when Bill is worried about the looks on girls faces when the bottle lands on him. I mostly thought the Sam/Cindy breakup was funny, but I always get a little pang of hurt when she chucks the necklace near the end of the episode.

I am not sure why it sticks with me but I am always moved by the ending of the Choking & Toking episode. Alan nearly kills Bill but is still invited to join the group for the sci-fi convention. He rides up on his bicycle and watches the gang from a distance but just cannot bring himself to join in on the fun due to his own insecurities.

It is the obvious answer but watching the VW bus drive off for the Grateful Dead tour and knowing it was the final shot of the final episode of this brilliant series.

So many sad scenes:

-The Bill and Neal episodes with their parents' love lives already mentioned.

-The Halloween episode where Sam gets egged by Lindsay, my heart just sank. Because he was already having an awful night. And also, Lindsay's mom, just looking forward to handing out candy with her daughter, but Lindsay wants to spend time doing something else. Though in the end, Lindsay does spend time with her handing out candy.

-I think the part where Nick knocks on the Weirs' door and makes small talk about pot roast and the aroma of their dinner. You can kind of tell he was lonely with no place to go. The good thing, was that when he started to heal and take himself more seriously when he was living with the Weirs more than he did in his own household. It's subtle.

-I think when Harold mocks his wife's unique dinner after reading Lindsay's diary, saying that they're boring. (But it kind of served them right).

-Millie and Lindsay's scenes, where they grow apart. Particularly the one where Lindsay leaves Millie's house in the middle of the night without saying good bye, and Millie asks if they can play a board game during Lindsay's free time.

-The hurt on Kim's face when Lindsay tells her Harold, the father, thanks she's a rotten banana. And when Kim's mom talked smacked about her to Lindsay's parents.

Neil's awful party when his brother comes back from college...

When Neal finds out about his dad. I cried and Neal is my favorite character. The way he acted those scenes was so natural.
