I did.

I tear up every time I watch it. Something about the relationship between two brothers. I always feel humbled after watching. Thanks for asking.

Yes!!

I teared up twice actually.

The Bar scene and the ending of course.

And yes, I am a guy.

Yep, in fact it's the only movie to EVER make me tear up. But it had more to do with my personal circumstances than the actual movie. The music helps however... :)

i agree with Robbert Van Dijk. I cried...just like everyone else did, you tough guys.Personal circumstances were a major factor in that. That damn music helped also! Especially having family in the Midwest like Alvin, and the countryside.. reminded me of Kansas. Midwest folk like Sig did also. I read about how everyone teared up at the bar scene. When I saw it, i lost it. Very Very powerful indeed. one of the greatest movies in cinema in my opinion.

I did have tears on some occasions. For example when he tell what happen to Rose, when he remembers what happened while he was in the army and, of course, the ending!!

reply

I didn't really cry, but the bar scene touched me.

reply

Yep, the war stories on the bar did it for me too. It's a powerful scene, not about the war stories themselves (which actually are pretty run-of-the-mill and predictable as far as war stories go) but about the lingering emotional scars left on both men. I believe the strengh of the scene, then, has to be credited to both actors' performances, who deliver a load of pent-up emotion in their reminiscing, without going for overt tearjerking.

No I didn't cry.
I did find this to be a moving film though.
Perhaps the best I have seen in ten years.
I've watched it about five times in the last
twelve months, having discovered it by chance on the telly.
This is the ultimate road movie. Snail paced maybe ...but this merely
accentuates the beauty of a trip with real purpose. of an agri-landcape
par excelllence. Of human emotion and a message that maybe there is more good in the world than bad. It's close to perfect. Thats why I rated it eight out of ten.

I've been on the road for forty years in one way and another and I've come across many more Doug Reardon's than I have bad people. The essenc eof this movie is goodness, and there's nowt wrong with that.
