Did any guy tear up during this film?
I did.
shareNot just saying this to sound macho, but I don't cry over films, havn't since I was about 11.
I have to admit, this and the end of The Shawshank Redemption have bought me very close, had to really swallow to stop myself.
I loved this film, personally I think it takes alot of reading into really. I did find it quite slow-paced at first, but the amazing landscapes and the soundtrack I found it to be a very thought-provoking film.
bcn_246... You should watch these kind of movies at home alone, so you don't have to suppress the tears... It's a great feeling to "let go" and blub once in a while! I also seem to remember hearing (somewhere) that it's actually good for your health!
I try quite hard not to cry at movies when people are close by, but it can actually spoil the film, if you don't allow yourself to let go with those emotions.
Years ago, I remember being at my brother's house and we ended up watching the last 20 minutes of "Shane" (we had been watching something else prior to this) and at the end, my nephew (who was only about 10 at the time) noticed a tear rolling down my cheek... I was a little embarrassed, I must admit! He was pretty "kind" about it, but also quite vocal!
I've cried at loads of movies before, and since... including this one!

I cried three times, the only films that have moved me this way are Its A Wonderful Life and Slingblade.
These are films that make you realise that life is a gift and it should be cherished.
Brilliant film.

I got teary a few times but I didnt cry. How in the Elephant Man... damn
shareTo be perfectly honest, I was too focused on staying awake to cry.
shareAfter reading this thread and remembering all those scenes my eyes have gone all moist!
shareThis is a beautiful film and very moving at the end, also I defy anyone not to be moved by My Dog Skip, and the scene in Charlotte's Web when the rat takes her pouch of babies for safety when she is dying and he just nods to her.
shareAwakenings is a very sad film. In my opinion, it has the same feel as The Straight Story. It was cool to see Lynch stray away from his usual form.

I sobbed at the story of Rose's kids. Someone above mentioned The Whale Rider: that was a Lump In throat film. The Straight Story had me sobbing.
shareMy friend and I are both guys, and we we're crying so much, our vision so blurred that we were stumbling from our seats all the way back to the truck.
One of my all time favorite films.
I do a lil anytime i see it,Farnsworth really deserved an award !
Hes so touching,I bet he have been a good man too,its difficult to express all those emotions with just his expressions but he has been a master on that !
He really deserves to be remembered as a great actor and for sure a great man too !
