Can anyone help me out and name 5 more movies that have the main idea like October Sky? Thanks.

what do you mean by the "main idea", getting rockets to fly?

I think they mean like overcoming obstacles, father and son wanting different things, following your dreams, getting away and breaking the norm. Things kind of like that. I'm sorry thouugh, I can't think of any at the moment.

Yeah like that. If you guys could help me out just 5 movies. That would be awesome.

alright, yeah, i get it. unfortunately, i can't really think of any either. If you liked october sky though, try watching "the war" with a kevin costner and a young elisiah wood. i know costner isn't exactly a-list anymore, but it's a decent movie.

One more movie with a really intense father/son difficult relationship is Return of the Jedi (1983).

It deals with a father and son who want different things in life, yet are able to reconcile with each other at the end.

Radio Flyer - not quite the same but still awesome

try...
Dead Poet's Society
*one of the main characters wants to become an actor against the will of his father, so he...[you'll find out].
This is one of the greatest inspirational movies I've seen.

Mine is October sky..

I would add Breaking Away as another story featuring a strongly motivated son who is not understood by his father.

You might also consider taking a bat at "Pay it Forward"

Highly different, but still an inspirational film in a way

I just want to mention the overlooked Danish gem Kundskabens Træ (Tree of Knowledge) from 1982. It's about growing up in the fifties and the transition from child to young adult. Check out Roger Ebert's review (external reviews) ere on imdb. If there's any way you can get a hold of this film, don't miss out.

If you want another Rocket Movie that's *kind of* like this movie then watch Astronaut Farmer.... I didn't like it much but it's there..
