Do Americans like this film????

I love this film, but as most Brits know that Americans have a very different sense of humour (not prejudice in anyway my Aunty is American).

Just this film is made up of very British humour and was just curious to see if Americans enjoyed it as much as us Brits?

I'm a Yank and I thought it was very funny. I love british films. They are very honest, very real. One of my favorite movies of all time is the " The long good Friday" One of the best gangster movies of all time. And of course "Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels" and "Snatch" Just great films all the way around. Keep em coming!

Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

I'm an American born and raised, but I like a lot of British films, and I found this one really funny! Granted, I didn't understand a lot of the British slang, but overall, I got it. I also am a big fan of Monty Python; my family can barely go a day without quoting Holy Grail or Argument Clinic.

Yes. A resounding yes as a matter of fact. I just wish they would have actually shown the "Fully Monty" scene at the end since the actors did actually have to bare it all in front of 400+ extras (which I understand took some liquid courage from the actors to film).

Did I catch all the slang and understand the accents the first time around? No, but I've watched it enough times to figure it out and, if not, I looked it up:-)

I thought it was well done - most of us can relate to the economic problems these guys faced at one time or another.

I lu lu lu luv it!!!

I adore that film!

Hey, kind of incidental but at the very beginning theres a track playing in the club with a really killer drum line. It isn't on the soundtrack though.

Anybody know what it is?

reply

I watched it the other day and if you mean the scene when Nathan goes looking for Auntie Jean in the club then that`s "I`m the Leader of the Gang" by Gary Glitter, but that`s listed on the sound track.

I bet it's the only time Americans have heard a yorkshire accent, as all the films seem to have English accents like the Queen!!

This is one of the movies that if it is on I will watch. A definite pleasure to watch.

reply

Yes, I am American and I love it. In fact I am watching it now and it must be the 10th time.

I'm American and I LOVE this film. I get all the jokes and even the slang. Maybe that's because I watch a ton of British/Australian films anyway though. It catches on.
