I love the original movie, but have never seen this show

If I watch it, will I be disappointed?

I liked it.It was good up until the final season which consisted of mostly backdoor pilots.

It's ironic that they went out of their way to showcase different female immortals when they could have just focused on Amanda, who was the star of the spin-off.

You'd never get away with these days.
A female with a sword??

The loudmouth blustery mysogenistic blowhards constantly offended by Political correctness while at the same time complaining about modern snowflakes being offended about things .... would get offended.

Nah, the original spin-off, Highlander: The Raven, was awful back then because it was just plain awful. It was like Highlander: Catwoman, but without any of the sword play. Like, WTF?

What really made the original Highlander TV series work so well was because Adrian Paul is a legitimate, life-long martial artist and real-life swordsman. He only used REAL swords during all the show's fight scenes, and his technique was impeccable.

It literally brought to life the idea of a several-hundred year old swordsman trying to fight to stay alive in this sort of underground, disjointed tournament of immortals.

But you are right that people would hate a modern day remake/spin-off not because it stars a woman, but because it would be even WORSE than Highlander: The Raven. The main actress would be black/mixed-race, obviously a lesbian (because empowered women today can't fall in love with men), wouldn't be able to fight or use a sword worth two nickels, and would have all the typical trappings of eye-rolling feminist talking points and misandry masked as female empowerment.

Don't forget the evil, straight, white, Nazi immortal who she must defeat before he can utilize Right-wing white supremacists to take over the internet... and the world!

Watched it on DVD a for the first time a few years back.It sucked. The Cast interviews about the behind the scenes turmoil was at least entertaining.

Stop giving Hollywood ideas!

You'll end up loving the show more than the movie. It really is great.

Not true for me. Connor is the only one for me.

You won't be disappointing. I found the first season to be a bit clunky in places as it was still finding its footing (lots of shows are like that during their first season), but after that when the watchers came in, and Methos arrived the show really picked up. I really should go back and watch it again. In the mid to late 1990s the USA network aired it everyday from 7-8 PM. I use to watch it as a lead in to WCW Monday Nitro which aired from 8-10 on TNT.

I love it! Duncan is great

I saw the original film and part 2 before I saw the TV show, I was a kid though and loved both, if you're used to 90s TV show format, you'd like this.

reply

I liked it better than the movies, although the plots got repetitive.
