Is this the best version of Batman?

Out of any animated Batman series?

reply

I think so, yes.

reply

ok i love this series too :)

reply

Maybe out of any version, including the live action.

Yes, and one can get even more specific and point to MASK OF THE PHANTASM as the high-point of this particular experiment. BTAS was a happy confluence of talent just creating a great, great show.

Actually it's the best version of Batman ever.

It wasn't limited by the real world. It could be dark, funny, endearing, silly, and action packed.

reply

Yes, Batman: The Animated Series is hands-down the best version of Batman (and all characters/villains) ever. Much better than live-action could ever hope to be.

reply

Ironically the show’s visual style was inspired by the Burton movies

reply

No that would be Batman Beyond

Animated? Yes.

reply

No.

It was great that it was a cartoon and a drama, which was unique when it came out.

However, Batman is a stupid character unless he is in a science fiction setting.

A huge issue for me with Batman outside of the comics is that he lives in a modern city and travels around in a car. I live in a big US city and it can take an hour to drive five miles. I can bike faster than I can drive on the highway when it's crowded. So, these shows/movies have empty streets where Batman drives his amazing car.

The cartoon had what looked like a 40s art theme and yet it wasn't set in the 40s.

Batman is part of the very high tech DC universe and the constant movies where he's not mess up the history of the character and the only logic that works for Batman.
