I thought I was the only one!

Really- I thought I was the only person in the known universe who liked this movie- no, not liked- LOVED. I LOVED IT.

And I did from the second I saw it, when it came out. I was in Uni (omg lyk hOw old r u?!) getting my visual arts degree, and this movies sets just completely blew me away, and provided the creative inspiration I needed.

I started thrifting like a mad bugger and decorated my house exactly like that. I still love watching, and showing it to all my friends... who kind of inch away from me as I die laughing at every joke.

One day when I'm rich, I hope to own a pickle-shooting train.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! Seriously, I never get tired of this movie, I always see or hear something new and hilarious. And Wow! What sets! Insane. The arena built out of lighted busses always just blows me away. And Akroyd surely proves his genius in this one. His movements are inspired and his dialogue is amazing. A real treat that never gets old.

I always loved the movie too. I saw it several times in the theater & owned the Laserdisc then the DVD. Wish Dan Aykroyd would direct more.

Does anyone remember the making of special that Dan made??? It has Aykroyd as himself walking through the house taking the viewer on a guided tour (just like Alfred Hitchcock did for Psycho) Funny stuff & very original.

Yeah, I love this movie too. Saw it as a kid, several times throughout two weeks, and not once since.

I remember liking it but, then again, the last time I saw this was sometime in the 90s. Nostalgia has a way of making even crappy movies/tv shows/cartoons/comics/games/etc seem memorable.

I love this movie!!! I have it on DVD and watch it often. =)

I've just seen this movie and it's pure *beep* No wonder why Dan didn't directed any other film! I'm so disgusted! How can someone make a film with John Candy, Dan Aykroid and Chevy Chase and not being funny??? this was pure waste of time!

reply

It's genius. Aykroyd is an amazing talent - but he shouldn't have directed it. One too many hats lol The beginning is very lazy. Overall, Chevy is funny, demi is miscast, candy's underused but aykroyd really shines. One twisted flick - no wonder people hated it - cuz they never saw anything like it before. That's why we as kids who saw it like it so much - that impressionable age and all ;)

You Suck...now deal with it.

Yes i also was young when i saw this movie, and i loved it.

Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd and (RIP) John Candy where fantastic in this movie, but i liked almost all the old movies of Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd and John Candy, they where great comedy actors back in the day.

I find the Comedies in the 1980 and begin 1990 better then, the comedies of now.

I miss those times.

I miss em too... a good old comedy is Spies Like Us (horrendous ending but none the less)...

You Suck...now deal with it.

My next door neighbor and I used to watch this movie every day after school for like a full year when it came out on VHS. It never got old. The old man penis nose made us laugh every time. John Candy in drag! The Bonecrusher! I don't know what was scarier.

This is the very definition of an unfairly maligned film and a true cult classic. Totally loony and genius. I laughed- and screamed- over and over again. A movie I still remember vividly from my childhood. I wish there were more movies like this.
