Do people actually like this movie?

It amazes me that this piece of garbage isn't in the IMDB bottom 100.

reply

I do and it's IMO the best of the franchise, I thought Sean Connery was a great addition to the film.

reply

Henry Jones Sr had about the intelligence of Jar Jar Binks, he was certainly more annoying

reply

Its a fun movie (not perfect) but I'm not so obsessed about it than some people are about The Dark Knight Rises and some other Nolan films.

reply

What’s fun about it? The movie is painful to listen to and watch

reply

Mainly Ford's and Connery's interaction. OTOH, I'm not a fan of the young indiana jones adventure in the beginning and that Marcus Brody was turned into a comic relief. Its a solid 7/10 movie.

reply

What? Their interactions were beyond cringeworthy, they had the chemistry of ammonia and bleach. Even Anakin and Padme in the Star Wars prequels had better chemistry.

reply

One of my top favorites for some reason. Maybe it was because I grew up watching it before Temple of Doom and/or the Nazi Germany setting at the time (intrigued me). That and playing the DOS games and subsequent other ones that were in 3D from the good o'l Tomb Raider days.

Best to worst imo:
Raiders of the Last Ark
Last Crusade
Temple of Doom
Crystal Skull

reply

Did you play Indiana Jones desktop adventures? Is that the DOS one? The one where you got either a whip or a gun, and killed Giant spiders.

reply

Holy crap, thanks for the memory lapse. Yes I played this one as well back in the day although I don't remember much of it. For the IJaTLC, I think my dad bought the 3.5" floppy disk which came with a hintbook that had a red color coder to read the hints. Fun times. I even remember the good o'l 5.25" games. An old 386 back with 33mhz and 66mhz boost option. XD

reply

I used to love DOS games. My favourite game of all time is still Prince of Persia. I also had Duke Nukem, god of thunder, hocus pocus, three Vikings. So many cool DOS games.

reply

At the time I didn't realize it was PoP. Thought it was some general platformer tiles that gave way and spikes to avoid. Didn't play much of it. Did you ever get turned on by the Duke Nukem nudes or maybe Leisure Larry? Decent was also a nice game back then as well as Doom.

Another classic fav of mine but more recent with CD-ROM and a more updated Windows from 3.1 to Windows 95

reply

Can't remember being turned on by Duke Nukem nudes haha. Don't know leisure Larry. Never played decent I don't think.

reply

I've never been able to sit through it in one sitting. I can't say as I hate the movie, but I can't say as I like it either. The first 10 minutes with the flashback to his youth was just so lame. And all the crap with him going into the library and getting into that sewer tunnel with the blonde. I don't even remember how they got into finding Sean Connery and the cup.

You know, now that I'm thinking about this, I'm really going to go ahead and change my answer to "I hate this movie."

reply

I totally agree, not to mention every word out of the blondes mouth was beyond cringeworthy and that stupid gag in that stupid library with the librarian stamping books was so childish. Oh and right before we meet Sean Connery we literally get Mickey Mouse humor, this is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen and it’s odd considering the two that came before it were really good, one of which I’d consider a cinematic classic

Here's a poll someone made on reddit. OP you might have an aneurysm.

reply

I see you aren’t able to defend this movie instead you have to appeal to popularity, how cowardly of you

reply

Lmao

reply

I accept your concession

reply

It's how I prefer to look at the ending of Indiana Jones because him riding off into the sunset was perfect for the trilogy.

reply

Eh that final shot wasn’t so great and you have to sit through a ton of childish nonsense to get there

reply

whatever troll

reply

Concession noted

reply

I happen to like this film. It's a damn sight better than "Temple of Doom," and is my favorite of the Indiana Jones Trilogy. Raiders is my second-favorite.

You want a garbage film, go watch "Ghostbusters 2016."

reply

Naw Last Crusade is a garbage film, I have not heard one legitimate justification for it.

reply

Good story, great acting, awesome action scenes, special-effects that were cutting-edge for its time, and still hold up even today, good plot twists, a chance to see Indy re-connect with his dad after so many years of being apart and not willing to understand each other, having fun seeing how Steven Spielberg interprets the Holy Grail's power and how it ended up where it did. And how can you not laugh at the library scene, where Indy's busting up the floor, but the poor librarian thinks something's wrong with his rubber stamper? The only thing that made me sad was that Indy's "love interest" was a Nazi bitch, so he didn't have anyone with him at the end like he did in Raiders and Crystal Skull. Oh yeah, and that "I can reach it" scene was dumb.

reply

It has some of the worst acting I've ever seen.

The story was just the same thing as Raiders

The action was boring

The special effects were cheesy

Ford and Connery have ZERO chemistry, I felt like I was watching a reaction between lead and water (FYI there's no reaction)

He didn't say anything about the grail that hasn't already been done, in fact Monty Python and the Holy Grail did more with the concept.

The library scene was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen, that is 4 year old humor, why would the librarian even think the sound was because of his stamper? The noise came from the other side of the room. Such a contrivance.

Alison Doody was beyond cringeworthy, every line out of her mouth is like a nail being dragged across a chalkboard.

reply

Is there a movie you actually like?

reply

Yes plenty including the first two Indiana Jones films.

reply

Ahem, friend, I shall see you on the "Raiders" board. *salutes*

reply

Ford and Connery have ZERO chemistry

That's funny, because I distinctly remember you saying their chemistry was the one thing you thought was alright about that movie, years ago when you were called "UltimateHippo" and you were still spouting nonsense about the Indy films.

reply

Don’t remember saying that, maybe you could back up your assertions with actually proof for once in your life

reply

Sure you don't remember it. This was years back, among the very first baseless attacks you made.
And evidence - since when did YOU post any evidence, you hypocrite?

reply

So no evidence? Got it, it didn't happen.

reply

I love it and it is IMO the best of the Indiana Jones movies.

reply

You have a very strange taste in movies

reply

It was the first Indiana Jones movie I ever saw and I thought Sean Connery was a great addition

reply

Sean Connery was a bumbling idiot in this movie may he Rest In Peace

reply

Opinion, nothing more.

reply

Not really I can’t back up my statement with specific examples from this trash movie

reply

Tell me objective facts not opinions.

reply

I provided nothing it objective facts

reply

No it is your opinion. Bad films do not have great acting, great directing, great music etc. See I can spout my opinion also and you can't say I am wrong. So lets try again what are your facts?

reply

But last crusade had horrible acting, bad direction and atrociously boring music

reply

Opinion, in my opinion it had good acting, good direction, and great music.

reply

Explain. I have clearly explained why it was bad.

reply

No you haven't. You have simply categorially stated your opinion, but have provided nothing of actual substance. To say it has great acting, directing and music is every bit as evidenced as you saying it has bad acting, directing and music. Both positions are opinions. But only one position has actual evidence, and that is the movie's immense popularity. Eggs on your face.

reply

I have proven multiple times that this is a bad movie, you are just a pathetic last crusade fan boy, you people have issues

reply

I have proven multiple times that this is a bad movie,

You have CLAIMED multiple times that this is a bad movie. You have never even come close to "proving" it. And indeed, "good" and "bad" being subjective, there is very little you can do to PROVE it. The best we can do is gauge its popularity. And it is VERY popular. People love it, which means it's a good movie. It doesn't mean everyone is going to love it, but it does mean the only evidence available points to the movie being GOOD.

reply

Not at all, I have pointed out multiple objective problems with the script, the acting, the story, the music, etc. You are just a blind LC fanboy and its beyond pathetic. Appealing to popularity also does not make the problems go away, another logical fallacy on your part.

reply

This guy is honestly the biggest moron on these boards moviechatuser497 is honestly incapable of learning. He has been at this for years. He's done this since the imdb days under the name ultimate hippo.
