WORST FILM EVER - Anyone agree

This has got to be one of the worst films i have every seen. The acting is terrible.

Although the film is bad it is not the worst ever music biopic (50 Cent get rich or die trying).

The music is great although. Purple Rain is one of my favorite ever songs.

I love Purple Rain and no, it is not the worst film ever. I've seen many films that were worse. The acting wasn't great but what do you expect? These are singers and musicians, not trained actors. I remember seeing this film in the theater several times during the summer of '84. I still catch it when it comes on TV. The soundtrack is one of THE best soundtracks ever done.

This movie is a classic to me,I could watch this movie over and over.Because it's has humor in it and some parts when it doesn't suppose to be funny but still it.And the music is good ,every song in the movie from Prince is great. This is one of the best movies I've seen and one of my top favs.I would have to disagree with you.But all of 50 cents movies are boring with horrible acting with the same story lines.

Its an oversized of-that-era MTV music video, & if you take it as such, its easier to swallow.
For sure its almost like a movie that was put together mainly to include all the facets of the music environment that surrounded Prince & Minneapolis at the time. Otherwise, when you think about certain substories in the film, you're left going "...whut?"

Not the worst ever but definitely bad. Just watched it today after not seeing for about 15 yrs. Purple Rain really didn't age very well. I remember being jazzed about it when it came out but I don't remember it being this bad. Time changes all I guess. It was remarkably bad. All the acting was cringeworthy. Wendy was the only one who even seemed to be trying to act and she was at least believable. Of course, Clarence Williams was great as always though his scenes were very brief. And at least Morris Day was amusing and entertaining though every time he opened his mouth, he ruined his scenes. Great music of course.

There are worse movies.

This one gets an extra star simply for having a kick-a** soundtrack.

It's incredibly dull.

We should learn from our past mistakes, so that we can make new ones.

I strongly disagree with your statement that this is the worst film ever. I absolutely LOVE this film and I LOVE the music even more.
I love it so much that I recently purchased the DVD.
Prince is the Mother F'ing man! No question about it!

reply

It's not a bio pic.... it's fiction. None of this supposedly happened. Prince wrote all the songs including The Time's songs.

May I suggest the OP watches 'Manos: the Hands of Fate' or 'Twilight'?

I LOVE Purple Rain. . .. .loved it when it was released; love it now.

I found the plot kinda thin, and the acting at parts left something to be desired, but its still a great movie for Prince fans, esp those that grew up with the music in the film. Certain parts were like an artistic music video, such as the motorcycle ride with "take me with u' playing. This and a couple other parts of this film just captured his music and the 80's perfectly. Other parts were laughworthy, I got a chuckle out of Princes oversized shades. Apollonia is absolutely stunning, steals the scene and is perfectly cast opposite Prince.
7/10
