Anyone else make this a must watch on or around the 4th of July?

I just love this film.

I don't even care too much about the actual shark!
Just the atmosphere and hanging out with all the characters of Amity.

Anyone else make this a must watch around this time of year?

reply

No, I'm not an American so 4th of July has no special meaning to me. I have never connected this movie to 4th of July.

reply

You’re a bore

reply

Not here to entertain you.

For some reason a tv broadcaster shows Oliver Stone's Born on the 4th of July on every 7/4 over here where I live.

reply

You don't have to be American, nor celebrate the 4th of July, to connect this movie with the date. It's a significant part of the plot.

It's been in the forties for a few mornings in a row, so this reminds me I need to have a viewing before the summer's over...cttoi, I should reread the book too, as I just realized it's been exactly fifty years!

reply

Not in the past, but I love the idea! I do believe I will fire up the DVD player and make it a new annual tradition...

reply

I do. Every 4th of July, in and around the actual date I have watched "Jaws" for at least the last ten years. Also "Yankee Doodle Dandy".

reply

Just the atmosphere and hanging out with all the characters of Amity.

Yep. The characters and atmosphere are everything in a film. Without it, you just The Meg.

reply

Nope. I much rather watch the Nathans Hot Dog eating contest

reply

Me too. I watch this film every 4th of July along with another great film "Yankee Doodle Dandy".

reply

Oh really, I will check out Yankee Doodle Dandy soon thanks for the tip! MAGA!
