This is without question the most BORING movie in the history of cinema

This is a FACT and I don't give two shits if any of you dorky film snobs disagree. What? Can't stand that someone insulted your precious little borefest? Well too damn bad. Eat it.

I think your username says to me you probably have a very short attention span.

But Tarantino is trash. He's a b-movie writer that skates by on stealing old movie ideas and using A-List and former A-List actors to carry his cringe dialog. He's truly a product of the 90s, which is a decade that quickly descended into cringe mode faster than any decade.

I FULLY AGREE!!!

... that you are allowed to think that. :)

I also do think it could be one of the slowest movies ever played. True. But I love the crap out of it. AND yet, I understand why many can't sit through it, think it is boring, too slow, and pointless. Those perspectives are absolutely valid and fair.

And yet, when I am in the right mood, I love sitting down and immersing myself into the future story made in the past, and all the luscious spacey locations and story direction.

I can't think of a more boring film, come to think of it. Maybe THX-1138 has some major boring in it, but it represents the dull, boring people in that world very well, so that works.

I'd never tell you, you are wrong or dont get it... it's just not for you. Like horror movies are not for me. But, I won't tell others they are wrong for liking horror films. Everyone is different.

The only FACT in your post is that the movie is boring to you. Period. And you have every right to your opinion. But that's all it is: your opinion.

Now, your post might actually be of interest if you offered specific reasons as to why you find the movie boring & why it doesn't work for you. But I won't hold my breath waiting for such a post.

Well, I am not a "film snob" by any means, but I find 2001 ASO *gripping* and thought provoking (well, except the last 20 minutes when it goes off the rails in my opinion).

If you find it boring, then you find it boring. That's fine, but the tone of your post is smacks of trolling.

It seems we have similar taste in movies as I dislike Kubrick and Tarantino equally, I think they never made a good movie in their careers but for some unknown to me reason they are regarded great directors

Tell me you've never seen a Marvel movie without saying you've never seen a Marvel movie...

I can understand your point of view:

- a very slow-paced movie
- long visual scenes without dialogue
- the opening overture music against black
- the opening ape sequence
- a lot of people just sitting around talking, standing, making video calls, watching TV

Some of us don't mind it, me included - in moderation! It's not something I watch often (about 5 or 6 times in my life and I'm in my 40s) and I think the sequel 2010 is a more enjoyable film. (I wonder how you'd feel about that film? Give it a watch and let us know!)

I actually find films like The Fast and the Furious, Lord of the Rings and many Marvel-style / super hero films to be boring.

Watching 2001 one can appreciate how back in 1968 no one had seen anything like the level of detail represented in the technology scenes and the end sequence which is open to anyone's individual interpretation. Today, of course, this movie is completely out of alignment with modern audience expectations but back in the day when this film was still relatively new it even became a favourite of people getting stoned while watching it because it was so odd.
