What a tool. This guy has been exposed as being more and more ignorant over time.

Wrong. He basically echoes the opinions of Bjorn Lomborg, which center on the idea that there are far more sensible and effective approaches to controlling climate change than stupid approaches like a massive, sudden shift to wind and solar. Among other things, Peterson suggests that raising the income level and living conditions of the world's poor will have a much more significant effect. You have no clue what you're talking about.
shareWell, massive suddent shifts to Wind an Solar is going to happen anyway. Fossils are too expensive now, Hydros been tapped out, Thermal is unfeasible, Nuclear has been propagandized into extinction. All we got left is the inefficient wind and solar.
His anwser is more complex than that he say the climate change is not the cause that is going to unite us as a specie, where we all agreed in with a 100% consensus, we can agree there is a problem but what about the solution? some of the solutions demand to sacrifice our way of life comunication, transportation, other solutions increase the problem instead of solving and if right now we dont have the technology or knowledge to solve the problem, why no focus on solving other problems equally important? like education on third world countries? and maybe by solving those problem we as consequence can solve climate change with more people working on the problem creating new technologies les contaminant, new materials, new tehcnologies of production.
I dont hink NOTHING can be done and Im not sure that is what he say obviously things can be done to reduce contamination and pollution but is unrealistic think we can solve that problem (at least for now)
The question he anwser was if global warming and climate change is the cause that can unite us he anwser no and I agree again we all know is a problem but we cant agree in waht the solution may be
The thing is - our way of life is going to change. No matter what. Thats always been the case throughout history. People who "want to return to normal" are just modern day luddites.
shareI've found that whenever Peterson steps outside his specific area of expertise he will say things astoundingly stupid.
As far as whether or not something can "be done about climate change," it depends on if he means that we are helpless to counter it (a falsehood) or that he thinks the will isn't there and thus he predicts it won't be countered in any meaningful way.
His voice and/or delivery is like nails on a chalkboard to my ears, so I won't be listening to his take on it, not to mention his views do not interest me at all.
"that he thinks the will isn't there" - that's what he means.
Of course the greatest detractors of JP are the ones that don't really listen to him.
He's always been this ignorant ... that's why he is so popular with Conservatives.
sharePeterson is right, but the climate religion hysterics are not intelligent enough to comprehend reality.
sharei agree with Peterson. Yes, human activity is affecting the climate, but not nearly at the rate those in power claim. We are constantly warned about rising seas, but if that were actually true, why do all of those oligarchs pushing this buy beachfront property?

Clearly, those who scream the loudest about rising ocean levels don't seem worried about it. I don't recall who said it, but it's true, a crisis is a great tool for changing society, and if there isn't a crisis, create one. Eventually, society will experience a cataclysmic change. We will use up our natural resources, be it oil, gas, or rare earth minerals, and we will veer towards a more agrarian society. I agree with Peterson in that it will happen, but we humans can't control if and when. We will just have to react when it does, and probably billions won't be able to survive in the new world, but billions, who are strong enough to survive, will. Natural selection at work.
