I have no problem with the choice.

The last pictures I remember seeing of Turner she looked pretty scrawny.

I think that's the idea. Like the last Lara Croft who was played by someone who looked like she weighed 100 pounds soaking wet. I'm guessing they cast actresses with no body for voluptuous parts because the woke left are triggered by women who have breasts, a round ass & hourglass shape.

It's the same reason why Wonder Woman was played by an Israeli stick insect. Compare her to Lynda Carter and it's night and day.

It's like getting Robert Pattinson to play The Terminator.

Angelina Jolie looked good, this chick doesn't.

reply

No she won't. She is a good actresses but doesn't have the look. Daisy Ridley would have been a better choice.

reply

Ridley is flat as hell.

Do you even know who Lara Croft is?

I wanted Jessica Green.

Lara Croft doesn't have to have huge breasts, sure it helps but not necessary. Jessica Green looks much better than Sophie Turner, I give you that.

reply

Wow.

You really don’t know Lara Croft.

That’s like saying the Hulk doesn’t need muscles.

I see Phoebe Waller-Bridge has inserted herself into yet another franchise beloved of boys and men. Because that's exactly the area crying out for more snarky feminist humour...

I don't get the thought process. Studios pay through the nose for these existing IPs because they come with existing fanbases and recognisable characters, then proceed to alienate the fanbases and change the characters. Though, of course, this only happens when the fanbases are male.

I totally understand broadening an IP's appeal to capture a bigger audience, but you don't have to alienate the core demographic - people who may have been fans for decades - in order to achieve this. It's hard not to conclude that it's done on purpose for political or ideological reasons.

I've been watching a lot of 70s/80s euro exploitation recently (mostly Italian - horror, giallo, WIP, nunsploitation). It's so nice to watch films absolutely there for guys to enjoy. OTT gore, ridiculously hot girls, nudity/sex, and the most un-PC dialogue you can imagine. Wonderful.

European movies still have that charm, mostly due to the fact that Europeans aren´t puritans and also, we don´t care about US agendas. Of course, now it´s more contained in comparison to what it was in the 90´s, but still....

That is good to hear.
