Clearly Swift did it the good way.

A lot of her music is not pop though. Her first album is country. Folklore and Evermore are alternative. The Red album has many rock-leaning tracks. If someone actually sits down to explore her music, they will find songs that they love.

Why the hell are you on Taylor Swift's board if you don't like "pop pap".

I'm certainly not a fan of hers and I'm certainly not a fan of that genre in general.

But OP does have a point. Many people here have gone out of their way to create topics on this site to trash her music, present company included. Why? That does come off as bitter.

I just ignore her music and move on. I have my own music collection to listen to and im in control of my own spotify and Im in control of my own dial in my own car. I really don't care that people like her music, people enjoy what they enjoy.

And you can dislike her music without feeling the need to come to a movie chat message board to announce your displeasure...

All the oldies have come out of the woodwork, was a good night.

How "big" or "popular" isn't limited to album sales. For example, one hit wonders can outsell more popular or well-known artists. Album sales are just a part of the equation.

At least here in the US (just making an assumption you're not in US based on spelling) Swift is MOST DEFINITELY in the pop culture zeitgeist more than Adele ever was. And even though Adele chooses to not tour, that MOST DEFINITELY puts Swift in the advantage of popularity. Of course it does, otherwise why would you bring it up? That's just more of a self-fulfilling prophecy on Adeles part.

Again, I'm not a fan of either of these artists. But just as an outside observer in the US, I would bet any random poll of regular people would put Swift miles ahead of Adele in popularity, reach, press and affect in pop culture. Or kilometers, pick one.

And side note, based on your number of posts to this site, I clicked your profile because I made an assumption that you're relatively new here...which I was wrong.
But what I do find interesting is I found that as of this moment, quite literally 30% of your posts at moviechat is about Taylor Swift.

Make of that what you will.
