Sydney Sweeney stole this girl's thunder

As soon as Sydney Sweeney rose in popularity Ana started to fade somewhat. Safe to say that Sydney stole her thunder as Hollywood's bombshell and IT girl. I was thinking Ana would reach new heights after her role in Bond but nope, Sydney came in and eclipsed her.

reply

Maybe Ballerina will boost da Armas, The trailer looks very good.

reply

I don't know, not hearing much about Ana and Ballerina but Sydney is all over the place and getting a ton of spotlight.

reply

I like Ana but if push comes to shove I am firmly in Camp Sydney!

reply

And that seems to be how most feel, they prefer Sydney which is why she has eclipsed Ana.

reply

Career has also seriously slowed down with only 1 project per year in 2023, 2024 and 2025 by the looks of it. Not a good when Sydney has been killing it with multiple projects during the same time.

reply

if Ballerina is a success, she might get her thunder back. also just saw that Ana and Syndey were in Eden.

Vanessa might be the new IT girl in 2025. going to be in 4 blockbuster movies...

reply

I mean, she's 36. After 35, actresses start getting less roles, and by the time they hit 40, they either expire or get mom roles. ScarJo used to be everywhere until her shelf-life ended, that's just how it is.

Meanwhile, Sweeney is 27, so she's bankable for another 5-10 years until the next IT girl comes along, and the cycle repeats itself.

reply

This is the cold hard truth for lead actresses. At least for women, it is almost better to be a character actress (e.g. Kathy Bates, Frances Fischer, Viola Davis)

reply

... it is almost better to be a character actress (e.g. Kathy Bates, Frances Fischer, Viola Davis)

Interesting observation.

Would you rather be a de Armas and coin it in heavily at the beginning of your career or perhaps make a smaller but more steady buck as a more facially different type of actress... Who'd make more overall?

Not sure if there'd be any way to find the answer - You'd need to get the career earnings of a facially different actress and compare them with a fizzled out beauty. And of course, it's partially a subjective thing anyway, so it'd be a hard analysis to make.

reply

I think being a lead actress would be best *IF* the young woman could actually manage her money so that those few big paydays would last the rest of her life. Otherwise, it would be better to have that smaller, but steady income over a number of years.

reply

Who made this rule that there can only be one “IT girl” (no idea what this stands for either but okay) at a time?

reply

There's no rule that there should only be one, it's just been that way. The woman considered the hottest will stand out from the rest.

And "IT" doesn't stand for anything. An "it girl" is defined as an attractive young woman who is perceived to have both sex appeal and a personality that is especially engaging, usually more so than her peers. Some people just like to put "it" in all-caps.

reply

Fair enough. So it girl is another meaning like saying “flavor of the month”? Would Margot Robbie be considered and it girl or has she established herself?

reply

Yeah, I’d call her flavor of the month. Expect her roles to dry up soon outside of sequels to franchises.

With that said, her Harley Quinn is done, so all she has left is Barbie, and even then, I can see Barbie 2 flopping like Joker 2 did.

reply

This is such a stupid post but I’m not surprised considering who it’s from.
They are literally two completely different actresses with different styles going for different roles. This clown acts as if there can only be one top star at the moment.
Great for Sydney and her continue rise. Ana will be fine. Ballerina will be a success.

reply

Yes! DAMN THEM for having an opinion or a personal perspective about something, let alone expressing it publically on a public internet! Damn them all to hell!

reply

Ana de Armas is still hotter and is a better actress, which is saying something because English isn't her first language.

reply

If Barbarella has as much nudity as Blonde, it's over

reply

I am really looking forward to seeing Sweeney as Barbarella. That's perfect casting.

reply

💯 i still can't believe it's real. it's the wet dream i never knew i had, until hollywood gave it to me on a sweet voiced boobous platter

i still haven't seen Euphoria either other than strategic clips.. I still haven't even yet experienced: the Full Sweeney Experience.. I'm afraid of overloading. I feel like I'm not even ready yet.
in cautious, due time...

reply

Not really.

Sydney Sweeney isn't sucking up the lead roles.

She's still a 3rd player to Madame Web and other cast, when Ana de Armas would be Madame Web.

reply

she's busy making her fortune branching out to new business ventures

and if Ana de Armas could be Madame Web it begs the question why wasn't she 🤔

reply

Could have turned it down for all we know. That's why we get the 50 Shades girl because nobody else wanted it?

But the point still stands. Ana de Armas is a lead and could fit into any high profile role next to any high profile actor.

Sydney Sweeney is not.

reply

"For all we know" Sweeney turns down all "high profile roles" (whatever that is supposed to be) in favor of those she'd rather play.

The only fact known for sure is that Sweeney was in Madame Web and De Armas was not. You have to presuppose a lot, without even any evidence, to come to whatever conclusion you think you're coming to. I try not to believe just because I want or have a feeling. Have blind faith belief in whatever you like.your business 👍

Regardless, now that each of them are producing in addition (Ghosted, Immaculate. Barbarella etc etc), they decide the suitability question themselves, whenever they choose.

it's really not a useful thing to try to come to a definitive meaningful conclusion about 😴

reply

Sydney Sweeney was in Madame Web as teenager number 3.

Not the lead.

While Sydney was busy not being a lead Ana De Armas was playing Marilyn Monroe in a biopic.

Ya know. Lead actress shit.

They put Sydney with Glenn Powell in a romantic comedy once to see how she would do.

That's one real lead role with support from another upcoming star in a fluffy movie. She's being tested right now.

Ana De Armas has been with Ben Affleck, Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans (no matter the quality) as well as coming up for another lead role as the female John Wick.

When Sydney Sweeney is the only face on the movie poster in something more than a small horror, then we'll talk.

reply

I don't understand the hype over Sydney, and never have. Sure, she likes to get her tits out, but if I really want to see a pair of nice tits, I'll go watch Alexandra Daddario or find some Jennifer Connelly movies. They've got better tits anyway.

reply

Prime Jennifer Connelly and Sydney Sweeney both score over Alexandra Daddario for me.

reply

Haha Jennifer Connelly at no point in her career compares with Sydney. Nice joke kid!

reply

Oh yeah? https://celebjihad.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/t_jennifer_connelly_nude_compilation2.jpg

reply

You really think those are better than Sydney’s? You’re delusional.

reply

Kid? I'm in my 40s you moron. I grew up with prime Jennifer Connelly, and she surpasses Sydney in every way.

reply

Sorry but Sydney is way hotter than Connelly ever was. No contest.

reply

Hard disagree

reply

Never never never. There was nothing like Jennifer Connelly. You just haven’t seen enough of her earlier movies. Mulholland Falls, The Hot Spot. Pollock, Dark City. Even earlier when she was a 14 - Labyrinth. She was 11 in Once Upon a Time in America and stole the show. Syd doesn’t hold a candle to this one.

reply

Clearly you people rate so highly because you’re stuck on nostalgia. I have seen those “prime” films of her people claim and she’s nowhere near special as you claim.

reply

I don’t think we are talking about the same thing. Her face. She looks like Aubrey Plaza. Sydney - yes, the next Helen of Troy. Trying so hard to get there. Still not seeing it.
