So will Gas Prices, Grocery Prices, Cost of Living, Rent, Utilities etc. come down Under Trump?

Also, will the wall get built and finished?

reply

From my understanding, these tariffs are likely to push up technology for one thing. Gas is good for the moment. I don't think he has complete control over food.

reply

Gas prices down - > transportation cost down - > grocery prices down. That works. I doubt the impact on rents...

reply

How do you think Trump is going to reduce gas prices? Allow another pandemic to cross our borders and let the governors shut down their economies like he did last time? That is how he did it when he was president.

reply

Initially, no. Biden sent a billion or so to his best friend, Zelensky. When we have to print money, that increases inflation. Not only did Biden want to give Z less of a reason to negotiate an end to this meat-grinder of a war, but he also wanted to sabotage Trump’s attempts to help this train wreck of an economy.

reply

Giving up land of a sovereign nation to the unprovoked aggressor that invaded it is not a negotiation. Biden has always maintained that Ukraine should be in control of its own destiny. If that means that Zelensky and the people of Ukraine wish to cede land to Russia in order to end the war, fine. If they do not, this is Biden's way of supplying the funds for Ukraine to defend itself and gain an advantage for as long as they are able after he leaves office. Biden is smart enough to know that Trump is going to cut off military and financial aid to Ukraine as soon as he takes office - notwithstanding the U.S.'s position in this war since early 2022, NATO's wishes, and the effect such an abandonment will have on NATO countries.

Europe and Great Britain can finance Zelensky. They can send the financial aid, the armaments, and the troops to keep that war going. If they try to expand it, as Biden has done, they run the risk of Putin taking that other arm from behind his back and fighting this war like he means it.

When I was younger, everyone knew you didn't push Russia too far. There was too great a risk of nukes flying. People are honestly acting as if they don't care. That's insane.

And, frankly, if I were the Russian-speaking people in the disputed territories, I wouldn't much care if I was ruled by one dictator or the other. I'd just want the war to end.

reply

One dictator or the other? Is it your position that Zelensky is a dictator?

reply

What do you call someone who suspends elections indefinitely?

reply

I think price gouging and inflation will continue and prices will continue to increase.

Trump only needed the wall to get elected, he will never run again. Trump does not need a wall anymore. His big business buddies do need a steady supply of cheap and easy to exploit labor though. I think Trump will not improve border security and will only make token deportations.

Do you think price gouging is happening now?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_gouging
term used to refer to the practice of increasing the prices of goods, services, or commodities to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair by some. This commonly applies to price increases of basic necessities after natural disasters. Usually, this event occurs after a demand or supply shock. The term can also be used to refer to profits obtained by practices inconsistent with a competitive free market, or to windfall profits.

or are prices just high?
gouging implies an artificially high price set by suppliers

reply

Prices will go up thanks to tariff policy.
