Don't get people's obsession with Henry Cavill

And are demanding the boycott of everything Superman until Cavill is back because what else are they gonna do? what about going outside for some fresh air or get a life as long as you look past this one actor who seems to be central to your life.

What about giving someone else a shot? we've seen how Snyder cultists have treated Tyler Hoechlin, Brandon Routh's return as Kingdom Come Supes and now David Corenswet, people like Aaron Fischer, Mr H Reviews and Ryan Kinel are talking like a Superman film without Cavill is an automatic fail, anyone who might be cast as Superman is insulting Cavill or a new suit is again insulting Cavill, the mind has been warped with these people and their perception of reality, it feels like Snyderverse has affected people's brains and their idea of Superman, I really don't get it.

Remember when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman, there was an awful lot of hate fans who thought it was gonna a comedy and gonna be the worst, then what happen everybody started praising Keaton once they saw him in costume, so is it possible that the new Superman might be good? is it possible David Corenswet might be good? cause these people can't move past the fact that Cavill is no longer Superman and the new film isn't Man Of Steel 2 they can't comprehend this, they're too stubborn.

Also this obsession with Cavill isn't helping his career, his latest films aren't doing so well, if fans want to see more Cavill there's plenty of him out there, don't let this him as Superman obsession cloud your judgement.

If fans wanted to see more of him as Superman they needed to support Black Adam because it maybe their best chance to see more of him and they didn't do that, it's much easier for them to bitch and complain.

I’m not sure there’s been an obsession at all. If anything, HC is under appreciated and gets undeserved criticism.

reply

This obsession with him as Superman isn't leading people to being fans of Superman, just Snyderverse Superman.

reply

So many of his (or Snyder's) fans still won't accept that he's done as Superman. I get being upset that someone you like is no longer in the role (I've felt like that in the past - not about Cavill - and I'm sure most other people have), but some are in serious denial. They're convinced Gunn is 'going to realise his HUGE mistake, bro' and rehire him.

Think anyone with half a brain or common sense can see recasting and rebooting Superman was inevitable, course these fanboys can't get over the fact that Cavill is not Superman, they can't fathom it, their brains are too small. They've become so attached to the image of Henry Cavill as Superman that they resent any other version now.

Of course it was. At the end of the day Cavill got to play Superman over a three-movie arc. Christopher Reeve only got one more than that. Brandon Routh only got the one movie (glad for him that he at least managed to return to the role in Crisis). But it was obvious WB weren't happy with the way Cavill's version was received, so another actor gets their shot. That's how it goes. I look forward to seeing how Corenswet does.

Also keeping him in a reboot could be very confusing especially when he's so associated with Snyderverse.

There's the problem, Cavill has too much baggage and is aging out of the role, Amy Adams is too old to be Lois Lane, a new film needed new blood and Gunn knew it.

There was no way they were going to carry on from a version that was incredibly divisive.

reply

Cavill was a good Superman but at this point I would rather see him work on other projects.

reply

If you like Cavill there's plenty of Cavill out there.

Looking at his filmography, I notice that I saw his last two films in the theater (Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and Argylle). I also saw both the Enola Holmes movies and I saw MI: Fallout in the theater as well.

I am hoping that his Highlander film gets made.

reply

It's clear that these Snyder cultists were probably never Superman fans before Cavill came along, think deep down they don't care about Cavill or the Snyderverse, they just care about yelling and spreading what they perceives as injustice.

reply

Funnily enough they were upset that Cavill wasn't ZSJL Supes in Black Adam, so they chose not to support him.

With the mixed to negative received films he was in and his toxic fandom how could've James Gunn used him? it would've poisoned Superman 2025.

reply

People are praising him for his looks than him as an actor.
