Kirk Cameron speaks out after faith-based book 'banned': Diversity should include Christianity

Why are lefties allowed into libraries if they don't support diversity, free speech and religion?
Explain why they hate Christians and Jews but love Muslims and Commies?

Actor Kirk Cameron spoke out Wednesday following more than 50 libraries allegedly rejecting his attempts to visit and read his new faith-based book, while many have had no problem hosting drag queen story hours for children.

Cameron's new book, "As You Grow," teaches "biblical wisdom through the seasons of life to children and the value of growing the fruit of the spirit, like love, joy, kindness, patience, gentleness, self-control," he told "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

The "Growing Pains" star said a library in Alameda County, Calif., rejected a solicitation while instead continuing to schedule what he characterized as a "gender name-change clinic" later in the week.

"I'm thinking, 'Wow, if we're so committed to diversity, why am I being excluded? Why can't I use your facility to read my book? You're a library.'"

reply

Oh hell no and this has no similarity to the drag queen nonsense. I agree that drag queen shows have no place in an elementary school. But that was done in like two schools, right? It's not really an issue.

But no, separation of church and state, and we cannot have Christian fundamentalist preachers like Cameron "saving lives" in a public school. No. No. No. Hell no.

reply

But no, separation of church and state, and we cannot have Christian fundamentalist preachers like Cameron "saving lives" in a public school. No. No. No. Hell no.

This isn't about public schools. It's about public libraries.

reply

Okay, my bad. But there is so much talk of proselytizing to children here, that my objection remains the same. He's a preacher. And this is a public library.

Sure, a lecture on the theology of Christianity is fine. But this fool is not even a good representative of Christians. He comes from a very narrow fundamentalist Protestant group. He's a narrow sectarian preacher, not an educator.

reply

It's not a school, moron! Nobody forced to attend.

There is lots of new age and commie crap at library events.

reply

It's public. He's preaching. Fuck him. Public libraries have no obligation to give him a pulpit.

reply

Separation:

keep STATE out of church, NOT
keep CHURCH out of state.

;)

reply

It's not about the government restricting religion. It's about keeping any one sect's dogma out of government.

The First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

If the public sector promotes Cameron's very narrow view of Christianity, it is establishing his Protestant sect, to the detriment of every other Protestant church, Catholics, Jews, Buddhist, atheists ...

reply

your quote confirms: keep state out of church ... not keeping church out of state. all humans will use their morality in their positions.

reply

Okay, so are you saying the Vatican can run the state? Cameron doesn't like the Papists.

reply

if the people's passion votes them in or whatever, sure. that's humanity.
but letting the state control beliefs would be the end of it.

reply

The First Amendment works both ways. It protects the church from the state. And it protects the state from the church.

reply

yeah no.
so, you mean the old peoples who founded the country on much religious teachings, who put IN GOD WE TRUST on all the money, didn't want political humans to have any religious back ground? yeah no

reply

"In God We Trust" was first put on American currency in 1956. Lol. The founders of the country were deists, not theists. They didn't believe in a personal god who interfered in people's lives.

Religion is fine. It just can't dictate law. Jews say you can't eat pork. Should there be a law against eating pork?

de·ism

belief in the existence of a supreme being, specifically of a creator who does not intervene in the universe. The term is used chiefly of an intellectual movement of the 17th and 18th centuries that accepted the existence of a creator on the basis of reason but rejected belief in a supernatural deity who interacts with humankind.

reply

seeing that I dont give a shit about history OR politics, im in over my head here. :)
never the less, people will always elect those that reflect their faith. and thats okay.

do we want ROBOTS to govern us or humans? :D

reply

We don't really disagree. I'm an atheist who sees nothing wrong with religion, except when it comes from a blowhard like Cameron.

reply

"Cameron's new book, "As You Grow," teaches "biblical wisdom through the seasons of life to children . . . "

Psalm 137:9 -- "Happy he that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the rock."

Sleep tight kids.

reply

LOL soo good.

"mommy can you tell me the one about when god sent down the bear to eat the children who were making fun of the christians"

"Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them."

reply

Evidently Kirk Cameron hasn't learned how to interpret hard-left newspeak of the day:

"Diversity" means "white, straight, Christians are not included."

"Equality" means "LGBT and black people enjoy special privileges while everyone who doesn't fall into that category is out"

"Marriage Equality" means "bake my F-ing cake, you hateful bigot!"

"Hate" means "you are a bigot who disagrees with the groupthink, and you will be punished"

reply

Most of the news media is controlled by the far-right, so stop yer bitchin, snowflake.

reply

What planet are you on? 90% of the news in America is owned by the far-left! They don't report anything unless the CIA and their Democrap masters tell them to report on it! It is you who is the snowflake because you melt when someone breaks the propaganda that same lamestream news drilled into your head for the past 6 years. Look up Mass Formation Psychosis, fool. It's about you!

reply

So you've never tuned into FoxNews, OANN, NewsMax?? Even CNN is owned by a tRump-supporter now. The far-right owns a majority of the news media in the country, and they have for years now. Please peddle your BS elsewhere.

reply

How fucking idiotic. "Diversity" has never applied to mixing church and state, and preaching religion in public schools.

Yeah, lets have a Christian, a Buddhist, a Wiccan witch and a voodoo priest all come into the public school and preach to our children. You let one in, you have to let them all.

reply

I'd love naked witches in my grade 8 class!

reply

I agree 100% that if you let one in you have to let them all in. I think that there really isn't a place for that in public schools. Public Libraries on the other hand....I'm not so sure. It could be a good place for discussion. Now if the library in which Cameron was rejected from did allow other religious talks or readings then I think he'd have a good case for discrimination. If they don't allow others, then I don't see a problem.

reply

I conflated public schools with public libraries. But this whack job has made homophobic comments. I see no reason for a public library to host him any more than a white supremacist who hates black people. And we know a public library would never sponsor a speaker from the American Nazi Party who denied the Holocaust.

Cameron has other venues. What's most disturbing is that he's targeting children.

reply

I didn't think the conservatives on this site would be siding with Kirk Cameron on this, of all people. Dude gives Christians a bad name.

reply

Unfortunately, so-called "Christians" like Kirk Cameron are the reason Christians so rightfully deserve the bad reputation they have today.
