In 1989, Halle Berry was living in a homeless shelter in New York City. In 1991, she made her big screen debut in Spike Lee's critically acclaimed Jungle Fever, and in 2002, she became the first black woman to win the Academy Award for best actress for her mesmerizing turn in the slow burn Southern drama Monster's Ball. She's still a looker, but one of the reasons Keanu has had a really long career and she has trouble getting work is because by all accounts Keanu is a sweetheart to work with... and she's a pain in the ass.

She has had 55 parts in TV or films since 1989, almost two per year. She is doing okay.

She wasn't very talented to start with --- She proved it doesn't take much to get a Oscar --- Fake an orgasm with Billy Bob??

Pretty sure it all came down to Catwoman. She was supposed to the have that spinoff series from Bond, but then Catwoman and then a whole string of money losers. As the article above points out. Sometimes all it takes is one disastrous film to derail your career. I think that early oscar was actually a stumbling block too, changing the perception of what kind of movies she should be making.

Considering she starred in a Netflix movie that came out last week and is the lead in a horror-thriller coming out next month in theatres I'd say she's still doing okay.

Not everyone can be an A-list lead starring in hit after hit for decades straight.

There is always a new batch of actors entering the industry and getting their chance, there is always the matter of aging out of certain roles. She's had a better career than most.
