Why don't you supply some context. I haven't heard or read what he said that in response to.
If someone said to me: Stopping rioting and looting interfers with my freedoms", I'd also say "screw your freedoms".
“There is a virus here. It kills people and the only way we prevent it is: get vaccinated, wear masks, do social distancing, washing your hands all the time, and not just to think about, ‘Well my freedom is being kind of disturbed here.’ No, screw your freedom," Schwarzenegger said. “You have the freedom to wear no mask — but you know something? You’re a schmuck for not wearing a mask. Because you are supposed to protect your fellow Americans around you.”
shareThere is a virus.
From there you went a little nuts so I stopped reading.
Maybe you got better, I don't know. I hope you did butt..........
Oh, no that wasn’t my statement. That was a direct quote of Arnold because strntzey above was asking what he said. I’m not nuts, it’s Arnold who went off the rails
shareThanks for the context.
whats unreasonable. there is a virus. its so infectious its a pandemic. even with measures like masks and distancing which we have never seen used against a regular flu, it still outtransmits and outkills the flu.
you follow speeding signs right? you dont drink and drive? you dont walk into a day care smoking? if you are severely ill with a highly infectious disease you stay home?
"But huh freedoms to drink and drive and blow cigarette smoke in babies faces!"
or maybe it isnt about freedom for you. its freedom for others to not just feel safe, but actually be safe. and live in a society where you do your part.
I don’t know why you’re attributing arguments to me that I never made. All I did was give strntz the quote from Arnold because he asked for the context. If you think someone’s advocating cigarette smoking with babies, respond to them and don’t make me the strawman. I love babies and hate cigarettes
shareWhy don't you supply some context. I haven't heard or read what he said that in response to.
If someone said to me: Stopping rioting and looting interfers with my freedoms", I'd also say "screw your freedoms".
Thats pretty much exactly it
Deranged right wing trumptard nutjobs are running around refusing to
a) mask
b) vaccinate
c) stay away from mass gatherings
because "FREEDUMM!!"
Thats who he was talking about
It's not just conservatives. When Trump was promising the vaccine in record time, the left was screaming it was impossible for a vaccine to be developed and thoroughly tested in the time that was promised, and that they would never take Trump's poison. Now that Biden is asking for vaccinations, it's the right that is using the left's tactics.
It's frustrating that there are so many assholes on both sides of the isle who subscribe to politics in stead of logic.
subscribe to politics in stead of logic.
I wouldnt even call it that. its a twisted definition of "politics" to mean "automaitically disagreeing with the opposing party no matter how reasonable the proposal"
but like you say , a large number of voters , and quite a few actual politicians think thats how its done.
They are all against us citizens when you look deep enough into their past and present actions.
shareMasks do not work. That has been demonstrated over and over by actual science, not the quasi-religion leftists refer to as The Science. A fine-print disclaimer on every package of masks actually states that they do not work with viruses.
These vaccinations have not been fully tested, and have not been in use long enough for us to know if they are safe. I decided to get vaccinated, but it should be up to individual choice.
As long as leftist-approved mass gatherings are okay, all mass gatherings should be okay. Cherry picking the Sturgis rally as a problem while giving a pass to concerts by artists popular with the left, or BLM gatherings, or Obama's obscene birthday party, is hypocritical and stupid.
Schwarzenegger is a steroid-addled clown.
test masks yourself.
put water in your mouth, put mask up, spit at bathroom mirror. note result.
then put water in mouth, leave mask off, spit at bathroom mirror. note result.
if there is ANY DIFFERENCE, masks work.
This is simple proof that masks work, verses "accomplishing nothing" which is what people mean when they say "masks dont work".
Fact is, they accomplish a lot.... of course, not 100%, but way more than nothing.
I dont get why people don't care about others to do this simple, and very cheap masking thing? What a HUGE loss of "Freedom"! hahahahaha all this being told what to do stuff.....
reminds me of those other things like, don't speed, wear a belt, dont kill people, dont rape... all that is silly. I am a free human, I do what I want! :D
The virus particles are microscopic and airborne, it’s not H2O which sits in a puddle, so your water analogy doesn’t apply.
There’s no need to take any measures now that the vulnerable have been vaccinated.
‘The price of freedom is eternal vigilance’ - when governments start removing liberties without good reason then they are becoming tyrannical. Naturally they pretend it’s for ‘your safety’ so you’ll go along with it. History has seen this dirty trick played many times before, don’t fall for it.
Bottom line: America and the Anglosphere generally prizes freedom. If you don’t then go live under a tyranny along with most of the world’s population.
as example if you spray 1000 virus particles out unmasked (yes the number is terribly low JUST for example), and virii are piggy backing on spit and water droplets, then a mask cuts random guess 75% of those, now you are down to 250 instead of a 1000 getting free, reducing potential spread considerably.
I don't see my wearing a mask to protect people around me as being the governments business at all, just me, as a fellow, caring human being, looking out for other people. the gov is not taking, forcing, removing any of anything to me. I just want want to help protect others. Is being nice and considerate illegal now? :)
Unsure why we are making a global virus "political" at all. I'm certainly not, and will continue to do the RIGHT thing, not some political thing.
lastly, only people who have literally lost a loved one seem to really care about any of this. it's not real and doesn't affect anyone until it does so on a personal level. sadly.
It’s absurd to wear a mask when the vulnerable have been vaccinated.
I don’t buy your supposed altruistic reasoning. Mask wearing is nothing more than a form of virtue signalling and a symbol of compliance with the dictates of an evil government.
that is because altruistic people are few and far between. yet, I am one, and not signaling anything. I want to protect others from MY potential spew in every way I can. AND I am vaxxed, but that isn't 100%. Why would it be? while many others dont give a shit whom they may kill, I actually do. I have ignored my government completely since the start of this, used my own brain starting in march 2020, and did what I and the experts felt was right. NOT just doing whatever gov junk. I live in a place the was pretty lax, and receive ridicule... while choosing to protect others. what a world....
shareWhere are these tests that say that they don't work? If they didn't work then why did numbers skyrocket when places stopped mask mandates?
The vaccines for corona virus have been around for awhile, they were just updated for this strain. We get a new flu shot every year and I don't see people complaining that it hasn't been tested.
I'm not American, and my government was determined to be "open for summer". Got rid of all mandates, had huge gatherings, not political, not a right or a left thing, just a people thing. Numbers have gone up, our ICUs are full, and people are still dying. Even kids now. But yeah, it's totally a political thing to pit the imaginary left and right against each other. We are back under restrictions, and people are still saying that wearing a piece of cloth over their face for a brief time that they are in a store is some infringement on their freedom? Again, where are these actual studies that masks don't work? Real actual science? Links?
'If someone said to me: Stopping rioting and looting interfers with my freedoms, I'd also say "screw your freedoms".'
Wait ... Are you saying that you support looting?
His career is definitely done, and so is the Hollywood blockbuster. That's why the real Arnold is finally coming out. He can say whatever he wants now, it don't matter.
shareI don't know if the "real Arnold" is coming out, or if he's trying to position himself as the one Republican who is being sensible about things like the looming environmental catastrophe or the fucking plague.
Because yeah, his Hollywood career is winding down, he needs something to do with himself, and he might be smart enough to play a long game. Maybe he's thinking about returning to politics, and well. If this is the "real Arnold", the country could do worse.
First of all, they guy is well off financially and doesn't need to continue his career. Personally, I think his A List movie career was done with the 6th day.
He became governor after that and most of his roles are medium budget or referential roles in sequels/prequels. He's just riding his notability now.
Second, I don't think his opinion is all that important. He's an actor. That's all.
He's an actor and a businessman and a politician and is very popular. His opinion is well formed by interaction with a lot of situations and people and therefore somewhat important.
shareNot really. The average person has their opinions informed by interaction with a lot of situations and people, especially their doctor. The doctor's opinion far outweighs any celebrity.
He's far removed from the average person. He may interact with a lot of people, but much of that interaction includes celebrity adoration. So it's naturally warped. Getting angry or happy because of a celebrity opinion just seems silly in my book.
He'll do whatever he can get away with. If he thought he could win he would have run for governor again. The 6th day was pretty bad. I began to really dislike him when he was such a poor governor, a real idiot, and then with the revelation that he cheated longterm and had a kid out of wedlock with his maid ... ugh, I'll never pay to see another movie he is in.
shareCareer is done for stating the truth and being sensible? Lol sure
sharei tossed all my arnie VHS, DVD, Blu-rays, and 4Ks into the trash as soon as i saw the clip
shareLol even the Villain?
shareno, only the ones i owned - Term, T2, Conan 1 (2) & 2, total rec, pred, commando
shareWho owns physical media nowadays indeed! Did you get a mask yet?
sharePeople that give a shit about the preservation of film, perhaps?
Movies disappear from streaming services all the time for reasons outside of consumer control. No one is going to come to your house and take away your Blu-rays. Streaming is incredibly convenient, and that's about it.
Wow, that's like having pictures printed! Is your town where they shot that Harrison Ford movie from 1985?
sharea mask for what?
are talking about Arnie movies or something else
Also people who have home theatres and want the best sounds and picture quality.
shareHe and his career will be just fine.
shareReally? When was the last time he made a film that was a must see?
Hint: it begins with 199
that only relevent if you think his career plan involves making must see movies in the future.
He's done with that stage of his career ,
he's more at the "kick back , relax , do a bit of this and that to bring a few extra cash now and again when i need a new hummer"
