Seriously, what is her appeal to anyone?

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I truly cannot understand who she appeals to. She is very average looking, can NOT act and is usually in decent to bad movies. Could I get a fan of hers to just explain what they like about her?

Yep, someone feels the need to chime in with an evaluation of, in particular, every actress's attractiveness. The first thing that says to me, loud and clear, is "Hi! I'm not really interested in film, but can I sit at the IMDB kiddie table?" And that's what we need . . a kiddie table. I volunteer to be in charge of assigning deserving parties to said table. I will be tough but fair.

I recently started watching The Killing and am very impressed. So, I head over to the show's boards for some info, and sure enough . . there are a couple of threads focusing on Mireille Enos's looks. As if that's the reason to watch a show about an obsessive detective tracking down a child murderer in the Seattle rain. Maybe we can blame CSI: Miami for the confusion. It just strikes me as a little sad that, apparently, the idea is that the only women who should be working in the industry are stunning physical specimens.

A teen friend of my kids didn't like Pacific Rim . . because Rinko Kikuchi isn't hot enough. I mean, you don't have to like Pacific Rim, but that's your reason? At least he had the excuse of being 16.

She is pretty, but I have to agree with you with regards to her acting. She's not a very bad actor, but she's definitely not up there with the 'A' list. Better off in 'B' films really.

I did like her very much in The Fifth Element, and later heard she and Luc Besson actually created the "Divine Language" spoken in the film and ended up carry on conversations in it (completely unverified but very impressive if true). Is she as good an actress as Jennifer Jason Leigh? No. But I also did enjoy The Messenger which was not a great movie.

Oh, and full disclosure...her long nipples in ".45" drove me wild.

reply

Yeah, because supermodels, which she was, are repulsive. Her acting? She’s cast for her athleticism and physicality, just like Bruce Lee and Jet Li and Michael Jai White. Jody Foster and Anthony Hopkins aren’t cast as the leads in an action movie. Sheesh!

reply

I agree.
HOW IS SHE A STAR?!
Not very good at acting at all or that pretty.
It's time to move on and give someone else a chance.
It's been what - 20 years of her?

reply

She was a model and is attractive to many obviously which led to her stardom. I think everyone has moved on probably about a decade ago. What big films has she starred in recently and who is she holding back?

reply

I think she's a better performer than she's given credit for. While she may not have the pure artistic talent of someone like Cate Blanchette, she's a capable actress who does well in the kinds of roles she's usually offered. She's also relatively attractive and always in shape, and has charisma.

reply

I agree. She does a fine job in the roles she has taken which don't include much range, but there is nothing wrong with that at all. She was a star for about 10 years, from I think late 90's to late 00's. I think she is fit and gorgeous.

I just watched Monster Hunter last night. It's amazing that she still looks as good as she does at 45.

When you think about it, she has made her name almost entirely off action films/thrillers, and that's rare for a woman. In fact, now that I think about it, while I know she has been in some dramas and I think even some comedies, I myself haven't seen any of them.

reply

She is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, average looking? You're mad.

reply

BEAUTIFUL,FUNNY,GOOD ACTOR...ETC ETC ETC

I only liked her in "The Fifth Element" as Leeloo. From what I can tell, her other fans stem from people who were fans of the "Resident Evil" series.
