Has Mel Gibson Truly Been Welcomed Back Into Hollywood?

https://tvovermind.com/mel-gibson-cancelled-hollywood-comeback/

Mel Gibson is one of the few actors to emerge from the indie market and become a global superstar. After starring in the low-budget action thriller Mad Max in 1979, Gibson became an overnight sensation. Mad Max spawned two sequels and cemented him as a solid leading man and soon-to-be action megastar. After the release of Lethal Weapon, Gibson truly broke Hollywood and became an A-lister.

Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, Gibson was one of the biggest actors in the world. Furthermore, by 1995, he showcased his skills as a director with the Oscar-winning classic, Braveheart. Moving into the early 2000s, he seemed unstoppable. However, his career came to a sudden halt when his personal life and a drunken tirade worked their way into mainstream media, causing a massive media scandal. Now, close to two decades later, it seems Mel Gibson may have been welcomed back into Hollywood – or has he?

no

Having said that, neither Hollywood nor Mel are coming out with anything great as of late.

Mel is awesome

Well Mel's era of Hollywood is gone anyway , so even had he never got drunk that night and been cancelled what would he be doing now?, playing captain americas dad? The villain in Thor 5? Jonathan Kent in the new Superman?

But he would've been Mad Max in Fury Road which would've been better for everyone. Lethal Weapon 5 would've come out in the late 00s or 10s (directed by Richard Donner), and he'd have have directed 2 or 3 epic movies throughout the 00s/10s that would've won a bunch of oscars (and no doubt be now directing big 200m historical epics from Netflix or Apple movies like Scorsese)

Hollywood is on its death bed -
Mel is still doing stuff but it ain't much better than what hollywood is putting out in terms of quality, even if the content lacks the wokist agenda (which, admittedly, is a great thing). From what I gather, he is getting along with Mark Wahlberg and basically converted him to conservatism and anti-wokism, so Mark is now also being selective with his films, which is good to see.

What's even more interesting is that TV ain't doing much better. For a long while, we had some great writing for TV series - while hollywood was releasing dump after dump. Now.... TV is also releasing dump after dump. I genuinely wonder where all the great scriptwriters have gone. We saw them move from films to TV series, but now.... no clue. Perhaps they are writing geopolitical scripts for our globalist cabal.

PS. The yellowstone creator is the outlier - he still comes up with decent cable TV series, but we'll see if that continues....

No. But everything now jew related is such hot button insanity it's hard to take an of his actions seriously.

After that bomb, The Beaver, his career seemed to nosedive.

And, let's face it -- his looks are gone. Here's where all the pretty boys hit the skids. Even Redford.

As a director, Gibson tends to have a niche market. Not exclusively, but often enough that when one thinks of a Mel Gibson directed movie, one expects R-rated grit and gore. His movies don't bomb as bad as The Beaver, but without a lying ad campaign urging churches to buy out entire theaters, he doesn't tend to direct blockbusters.

reply

I’d be less inclined to blame The Beaver, I think that audio clip of him screaming like a man possessed about hoping his partner gets “raped by a pack of niggers” might have bone a bit more damage. That and the drunken antisemitic tirades. I think that clearly coincided with his fall from grace.

He’s a talented man though. Hacksaw Ridge was a whisker away from a masterpiece.

reply

Okay. I'll put Hacksaw Ridge on my to see list.

I think his best acting work was in Conspiracy Theory.

reply

I may be one of the few, but I thought he SMASHED Hamlet. The Shakespearean purists were all up in arms about it at the time, who does he think he is, all that snobby stuff, but he was perfect in the role.

He doesn’t star in Hacksaw Ridge, he just directed it. It’s an amazing movie, I hope you like it.

Hollywood with Harvey, etc is shown up to be really sick. Gibson kept to the truth and knew a lot from the inside of Hollywood. Lethal Weapon 5 will be awesome based on script going back to Lethal Weapon 1. Gibson has his own production company for the 2 more Jesus films, which will make a billion dollars each.

Gibson will retire after that. Remembered as a film legend who told the truth on genocidal maniacs. Especially now the world has seen Gaza's perspective thanks to X.

The rulers of the media have always hated Gibson since he got drunk and said what he said. Mel Gibson is an alcoholic, a bit crazy, deeply religious, and dont forget him on Rogan pointing out the future of health care.

I always wondered what Danny Glover made of that voicemail that was released. I don’t even know if they were close before that, but they were one of the most memorable action movie double-acts of all time. I’m assuming Gibbo didn’t throw the N word around on set like he did in that audio. Surely it put some strain on the relationship, even if it was only a professional one to start with.

The telephone recording to one his fake girlfriends who he had a child with is what you are referring to, "I hope you get raped by a gang of ni**ers"

Gibson did that amazing film "Dragged Across Concrete (2018)" with mostly black actors. Those black actors were asked in interviews what they thought of Gibson and none had a bad word to say.

People, well a small amount just don't want to speak politically correctly. Those people are the best fun to be with, in my opinion.

The other drunken, angry rant was having a go at those mass murdering child killers of the last year.

I loved Dragged Across Concrete so much, fantastic movie! And to your point, I thought it was so clever how it commented on cancel culture considering Gibson’s own fall from grace. Meta in the best possible way!
