Is Mel Gibson basically finished as a director?

And is what's left of his career is basically acting in DTV action movies and low brow comedies? It seems like his Berserker and Judah Maccabe films never got off the ground.

Lethal Weapon 5 was recently confirmed. This will go a long way toward Mel's redemption with mainstream audiences, and it's long over due. Mel has been shunned for far too long....but this return to one of the most beloved franchises in movie history will help return him to the mainstream where he belongs. Also...the sequel to Passion has been greenlit....so that will return him to the director's seat as well.

Welcome back, Mel. It's been way too long. You're one of the best.

He has had a Wild Bunch re make in the works for 2-3 years.

Never, Mel's the man! He's too talented an actor and director to be outcasted because of couple comments made while drunk and pissed off.
People are pathetic nowadays. All it takes is a rumor these days to destroy someone's career.

No

Umm - every movie made is now DTV, in case you didn't notice.

He could still be a ghost director, as long as he's a silent partner behind the scenes (i.e. directing through a proxy who tricks the cast into thinking he's calling the shots).
