Name some of your fave films that flew under the radar (didn't get much recognition)....

SOmething you liked that maybe....

Didn't do major box office.

Was ignored by the academy.

Isn't talked about all that much.

Wasn't very popular.

Something under the radar you really enjoyed. I've got a few......

2020s:

"Janet Planet"

"Alone"

2010s:

"Excision"

"Diane"

"Rust Creek"

"Burn"

2000s:

"The Station Agent"

"Year of the Dog"

"Nick Nolte : No Exit" - This one should have been labeled as a comedy, thought it was hysterical.

1990s....

"Les Miserables" - 1998 version

"Unlawful Entry"

"Wolf"

"Freeway" - It's actually very funny if you don't take it seriously.

"Breakdown"

"The Vanishing"

1980s

"They Live"

"Somewhere in Time"

That's about it, look forward to other takes.....

Tonight I am going to watch one called The Godsend from 1980. I don't know why this isn't a classic.

Two Tom Hardy flicks that (most) people have probably never even heard of.

The Drop (2014) - An excellent slow burner.

Locke (2013) - A fantastic solo performance by Hardy.

Hey great call on "The Drop"

Exactly what I'm talking about.

Terrific little film that fell under the radar.

Thanks for the response.

I was thinking “The Drop” the whole time and luckily read through the whole thread before posting. This is my favorite movie, has a fantastic cast with some very famous actors, and yet it seems like a lot of people have never heard of it

Bone Tomahawk certainly deserved a lot more appreciation imo. If you enjoy horror and westerns it’s a must see. Plus, it stars Kurt Russell👍

reply

Hey, whats up brother?

I'll keep that one in mind.

Thanks

THE ABYSS

lots of PRE-CGI, REAL underwater filming and action...
ok one big, major CGI step, but it fit the story and was not over done

By James Cameron, the guy that made THREE of the top grossing movies of all time in the TOP FIVE

reply

I wouldnt say it was under the radar , but certainly underappreciated and underrated.
Anyone who hasnt seen The Abyss should do so immediately!

reply

Good call on Strange Days

reply

Yeah "Tremors" - that was like a Horror/Comedy type of film as I recall - it was pretty funny.

Thanks for your responses.

Otesanek (2000)
Victoria (2015)
November (2017)
The Turin Horse (2011)

Interesting choices, thanks.

I will add The Blue Bird from 1940 which starred Shirley Temple. It was 20th Century Fox's answer to MGM's The Wizard of Oz. I like it and it's extremely unusual, but I think a lot of people don't even know it exists. (It's not better than The Wizard of Oz, though.)

reply

Ok great.

I'll keep it in mind - thank you.
