Pizza crust πŸ•

We've covered hard and soft tacos and now it's time to address pizza crust.

Thin crust?
Hand tossed regular crust?
Pan pizza (thick and spongey)?
Stuffed crust (stuffed with cheese)?
Cauliflower crust?

Extra question: You're at a restaurant that will only allow one topping on your pizza. What topping do you choose if you're only limited to one?

Me: Crust depends on my mood. I like all of them but stuffed crust is generally my favorite. The one topping I would choose is mushrooms.

reply

I will eat whatever pizza is put in front of me.

reply

Well so would most of us but you must have some preferences. General answers will deduct 10 points from your score.

reply

What about major answers?

reply

I guess your preferences are private answers.

reply

Did I mention that I'm a landlord and Lou is one my tenants?

Lou is partial to crust with cheese in it.

reply

I guess from your original answer you admiral types of pizza

reply

Thin crust all the way. I'm from St.Louis MO and we love our IMOS Pizza, Thin Crust

reply

Thin crust is tasty. Do you have a favorite topping?

reply

My favorite is Pepperoni & Canadian Bacon

Once again I got to brag about Italy, or in this case the combination of Germany and Italy, because the company making this operates under different names in both countries.
A few years ago they came up with a thick version of frozen pizza.

Very thick ("alta" is Italian for "tall") and much softer than frozen pizza usually is, comes out of the oven very crunchy.
Obviously requires some topping and that answers your extra question, I put fresh mushrooms on top.

reply

A fellow mushroom lover! Yay! Mushrooms are actually my favorite food on Earth.

My son and his wife went to Italy for part of their honeymoon and enjoyed the pizza there. Here's a picture.

Visible on first view, that's what you get in a real Italian pizza place.

reply

I would trade out the meat for mushrooms but it looks delicious.

reply

Nahhhhh, no trade, in doubt I put both of it on top.
You didn't leave the option, but I frequently mix some stewed ham between the mushrooms.

reply

Well that would be good, too. I'm not a fan of pepperoni, though.

reply

Yuck, not me either.

Old school NY pizza crust. This is a medium crust pizza, I suppose you might call it hand tossed (like the old days) but it is not quite the same as Domino's Hand Tossed or New York Style crust. One topping: Italian sausage.

reply

Yum! We have a New York style pizza place nearby and order from them all the time. It's delicious, and places like Domino's can't hold a candle to it.

reply

Thin crust if it's nice and crispy. Some places make a really nice thick crust, though.

reply

We often order two pizzas with two different kinds of crust and eat on them for several days. My husband doesn't eat the crust at the end so he gives me his thin and crispy end pieces.

reply

Just not cauliflower, the rest I like.

reply

Cauliflower crust is okay by me, but it would be my last choice of those listed. I ate cauliflower crust pizza for a while because I had it in my head that it was healthier but then I realized it really wasn't. Never again! πŸ˜‚

reply

lol if it's part of pizza it's unlikely to be healthy, but tasty. I'm just not a cauliflower fan in general, it's grossly chalky to me.

reply

The thicker the better πŸ•

reply

Every once in a blue moon I will want a thick crust but I have to be in the mood for a lot of bread. I generally want thinner crusts because I want the taste of the toppings to be the main taste.

We had a place here in Reno that served authentic Chicago deep dish (the place was owned by a Chicago native, he recently retired and closed up shop). It took forever to cook (45 minutes to an hour) and frankly I didn't care for it so much. It's just too darn thick and dense, you take two bites and feel full. He told me that in Chicago, deep dish is more popular with tourists than locals, that locals like a thin crust Chicagoans call "tavern pizza." I miss his Chicago hot dogs of course.

reply

Yeah, I've never been into deep dish pizza. Sometimes I don't even want the crust at all and just eat the toppings off. πŸ˜‚

Growing up in NYC pizzerias often had a choice between the standard pizza and Sicilian pizza (though if it actually had anything to do with Sicily, I don't know). Sicilian was a thicker crust but somewhat softer and less dense that the aforementioned Chicago deep dish. It was a square cut pizza cooked in a pan. I ate it occasionally and it was good. But Sicilian is an option that is harder to find these days.

That reminds me of the homemade pizza that my husband sometimes makes. Still a bit thicker than I would like, but I would never refuse pizza. 😁

reply

THIN......PEPPERONI....EASY ANSWERS.

reply

That is Mr. fourlemons' favorite, too!

reply

Thin crust all the way! There is a dollar store nearby that sells super thin crusts. I love them. I use them to make my own pizzas. As for toppings, pepperoni used to be my favorite. But I got tired of it for a while. I do like mushrooms.

I can eat just about any topping as long as it is not pineapple😫 or black olives. Hate olives!

This topic is making me hungry. I was not sure what to have for dinner tonight. Now I know!

Did I also mention that I work in an Italian restaurant on weekends? Free pizza. I am the proverbial kid in a candy store.😁
