Stop with the personal attacks

Some commentators seem to think it's okay to personally attack you if your opinion defers from theirs. Stop already. You can have a discussion without name calling and personal attacks.

reply

This site started catering to them from the start.
It's all about "clicking" and it's this rage bating that offers the most.
They NEVER should have allowed politics on here let alone placing politicians in the latest posts row.
...
I've always said they need a row of latest movie discussions separate from the latest performers discussions so those of us who want to talk about MOVIES won't be continually sidetracked with political the commentary of them.

reply

But the Politician placed in the latest post rows is more than just the President of the U.S in 3 Days, he's also a Celebrity, so how do you address that portion of it??

reply

Merely because you don't like politics, don't try to limit the options of others. IMDb has pages for politicians. MovieChat mirrors the IMDb pages. If you don't like it complain to IMDb.

reply

I could use a “politics off” button. That way people who want to see those threads on the “latest” posts can participate, and I could shut it off and not get sucked in as a result of my poor self-discipline

reply

I’ve been here for about seven years. I almost never read the political stuff. Just browse by it and chat about movies, TV and music.
It’s easy👍

To the OP:
I agree with you, but it will NEVER stop. Since the days of the caveman, differing opinions have caused disagreements ... and WAR.
In today's culture, neanderthals hide behind their anonymous computer screens to speak their minds to people who don't agree with them. They are cowards and the best thing you can do is what a lot of us more intelligent posters do - put them on IGNORE.
Problem SOLVED!
Have a great day!

Good point. Thanks for the advice.

I checked it out, and I think you should just block the guy. There is a difference between a heated debate, and someone that just comes in hot the way he did. That person problem isn’t worth talking to.

On the other hand this person seems highly triggered over realism in Batman, so you could troll him for your own amusement, but if his attacks are going to affect you mentally, you are better off blocking him and moving on.

reply

Yeah he seemed to skip the normal no your wrong points straight to the name calling. So you're right that I should have just put him on ignore.

reply

In my case, it also includes not to indulge in bickering or demanding things apparently, but I try not to "attack" anyone either. Oh well...

reply

I don't mind "playful" attacks but not the ones wishing me harm. I have disagreed with many other commentators but never in such a heated way.
