Windows 10 End of Support

I just got a notice that by Oct. or 2025 Windows will no longer support Windows 10. What does this mean exactly? They imply I will have to get a new device with Windows 11 on it. What happens if I don't? Will I not be able to use my old computer with Windows 11? Or if not, will it no longer be functional with the old Windows 10? I don't understand why the new OS will not work on the same computer that used the old OS. Is it time to go with an Apple?

Interesting. Windows backup purports to do all this porting - will try it first !

My old laptop runs Windows 7 and is still going strong after fourteen years...

I ran Windows XP for years after for my dj business.

You just don't get updates.

There are other OSes besides ones sold by Microsoft and Apple.

There's Linux but if you aren't good with computers then Linux is not for you.

Golly gee willikers, where can I buy a copy of this 'Linux'?

You know Linux is free but outside of Linux, Microsoft and Apple what are the other operating systems you speak of?

I use an Original Xbox with Xbox Media Center to browse the internet and everything else, as presented in this video:

I beg to differ , if all you want to do is use the computer , rather than fuck around pimping it and tuning it or whatever , Linux is as good as any for the totally non technical user .

Especially these days when virtually everything is on line , in the cloud , and done via a web browser - The computer is just a thin client.

Microsoft are a bunch of liars....remember when they said there wouldn't be a win 11?

Rn my main desktop is not compatible with W11 because TPM. I have a generic one that I've never installed onto my board but I'm wondering if I should setup my redundancy box into a proxy server instead... that way I can air-gap my desktop while keeping win10 and not worry about sniffers.
