Wonder Twin powers...

ACTIVATE! 💥

Were the Wonder Twins kind of the Jar Jar Binks of the DC Comic world, or were they cool?

As a little girl they were my favorites. Zan, could shapeshift into various forms of water and Jayna could shapeshift into any animal. Also, I liked purple. They could be really helpful anytime you had a disaster requiring a chipmunk to run through a cloud of mist.

Was it just me?

reply

What about the Monkey?

reply

Dang it! I meant to mention Gleek.

You are the superhero of this thread already.

reply

Remember he would hold the bucket that water would go in, and the other would be an eagle.

reply

Of course if Jayna could shapeshift into animals why didn't she first just turn into a monkey, carry the bucket of water to the appropriate location and then change into the eagle and do whatever it was supposed to do?

reply

I always thought that configuration was used when they needed to travel long distances. Zan would be water to go in the bucket Gleek would hold while Jayna as an eagle would hold him with her talons.

reply

Ah, I see. Too bad she couldn't have turned into a flying monkey but I guess that was just the Wizard of Oz.

reply

You better hope no one posts a clip from Family Guy about them or your childhood dreams will be tainted forever.

reply

Well I wasn't in love with Zan or anything. I just liked that they could turn into things. I don't even think I realized as a young tyke how limited their choices were. I just thought Zan was really effective at weaponizing buckets of water.

reply

Well at least some jerk didn't post that Family Guy clip.

reply

I really need to come up with a nickname for you because when I need to fuss at you, parkerbot ain't gonna to cut it.

reply

Just don't call me Shirley.

reply

The name Parker just sounds too normal. I need something that I can make silly. PB sounds too much like peanut butter. But maybe I could do something with that... How about PeanutButter-Head? Peanut Botter? Wait! Did you know there is a species of fly called a Botfly? (Don't ask me how I knew that.) I could call you Botfly!

Form of...a Botfly! 💥

Surely, that wouldn't be problematic.

reply

I'm actually Korean and Park is my surname and Erbot is Korean and it roughly translates to "scattered".

Thanks for being culturally rude and equating me to a bug.

reply

Korean, huh? Name all seven members of BTS without using Google.

For me to believe this to be true I would also have to believe that you're denying being a bot, of which I know you are very proud.

I need to come up with this nickname soon because all of these Googling odysseys you're sending me on deserve much fussing.

reply

Well my friends call me Maurice.

reply

Okay Space Cowboy. I'll try calling you Mo.

Addendum:

There's only one true Korea and it's north of where those puppets of the West come from.

And since I'm in a generous mood, parkerbother® is an insult you can use (provided you agree to my licensing terms).

Although, if you really want to hurt my feelings, call me samoanjoes.

reply

Questions:

1. Are you saying that Waldorf and Stadler are from Seoul?

2.Does anyone else here call you parkerbother®?

reply

1. I have never been to either of those hotels.
2. No one has yet agreed to my licensing terms.
3. You should always ask three questions.

reply

1. What are your licensing terms?

2. What are the terms of your licensing?

3. What licensing terms do I have to meet to use that term that no one else uses?

There's one on every board and I'm so glad I found you. 🙈🙉🙊

reply

Why do you ask so many questions?

reply

This thread is getting far too skinny for me to answer you adequately. You're going to have to formulate a new reply to the OP that's big and fat for me to continue with this line of questioning.

reply

It is my dream to have a thread devolve into one word.

I also dream about a popsicle made of spaghetti but why make it weird.

reply

But I had all these things to tell you about questions and secrets and lies and Crystal
Gayle. As I type this it just looks like a bunch of gibberish. Either you make a big fat post or I won't agree to your terms of licensing.

reply

Parkerbot obliges:

Although it's technically not fat, just big boned.

reply

Well I guess I will take what I can get. In the meantime, I Googled "popular Korean nicknames" and this is what your Uncle AI pulled up. Do any of these appeal?

귀염둥이 (Gwiyeom-dungi): Means "the cutie"
똑똑이 (Tokki-i): Means "the smarty pants"
사고뭉치 (Sago-mungchi): Means "the trouble maker"
까불이 (Kaburi): Means "the joker"
방구쟁이 (Banggu-jaengi): Means "the fart machine"

I swear, I really just Googled popular Korean nicknames.

reply

"The joking cute fart machine with smart pants that causes trouble" will suffice.

reply

I've decided just to freestyle it with any future nicknames for you. That way, they can appropriately reflect the situation. It's good we had this exchange though. It is important for me to be aware of your heritage and I've marked the major Korean holidays on my calendar for us to celebrate together.

reply

It's possible I might have hallucinated my heritage based on a five year old frozen burrito I ate.

reply

Look here at my resourcefulness. A big fat box to type my answer in.

I had a feeling you were pulling my leg about your heritage, and I have that same feeling about you being a computer. Computers cannot eat burritos, and I recommend you do not Google a picture to prove otherwise. When I Googled "computer eating a burrito" just now it pulled up a picture of a naked person, and he was NOT a naked person that I was glad to see.

reply

Thankfully the parkerbot is programmed against crude and vulgar humour and it cannot make a comment about your big fat box.

Classy, that's me.

reply

Your discretion and restraint are appreciated. Thank you also for discussing the Wonder Twins with me (did we actually discuss the Wonder Twins?), your Korean Heritage, and your lack thereof.

As an important side note, if someone reduces the size of the screen they'll now see (via our conversation) a shapeshifting thread split into two parts representing Zan and Jayna, thus proving we were on topic the whole time.

Thank you. Drive thru.

reply

They were my favourites too!

🤜💥🤛

Funny, I haven’t thought about Zan and Jayna in years. In my memory they will always be linked to G-Force, Astroboy, He-Man and Transformers, as they were some of the few cartoons broadcast on the two TV channels I had access to growing up in the country. Throw in Doctor Who, Monkey and The Muppet Show and that about sums up my childhood TV viewing experience.

reply

First, I like that you put a "u" in the word favorites, no matter what anyone else says. It looks fancy to us 'Murricans. 😁

Second, I'm glad you shared my appreciation for them. There's nothing that appealed to childlike wonder better than trying to guess what shape they would change into. I mean, you knew deep down that there was going to be a bucket of water and a bird of prey involved, but still it MIGHT be something else for once. 😂

reply

Haha.. so true! With hindsight it was one of the lamest superpowers one could possess, but that silliness adds an extra layer of fun for the undemanding child viewer!

Re. “favourite”.. U are sweet for saying so 😉 Although I couldn’t spell it the other way if I tried, autocorrect on my phone is set to posh English 😂

reply

😁❤

Did you guys happen to have the Sid and Marty Krofft shows in New Zealand?

reply

I grew up in Australia, but no, that doesn’t ring any bells at all.

As I said though, I came from a tiny rural area and we missed out on a lot of shows the city folk got. I remember one of the most exciting things about family trips to visit my Grandma in Sydney was being able to wake up early at her place and watch all the cartoons I missed out on at home. Back then she had an enormous FOUR channels to chose from.. can you imagine?🤣

reply

Aww, that sounds like a sweet memory. I did so love waking up early on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons. I woke up super early, before they even started, and would often just have to sit alone in the living room watching some pre-dawn talk show with two old men discussing the news, but I just sat there waiting. 😂

On another note, one of my dearest friends from my former message board was from Australia. He used to send me pictures of his adventures, including a trip he took to Sydney. Sadly, he passed away from cancer not long before IMDb shut down. Because I'm terrified of airplanes I'll probably never get there but it sure does seem like a cool place.

reply

That’s really sad. I’m sorry you lost your friend. Cancer is such a cruel scourge.

Both Australia and New Zealand are beautiful holiday destinations, with endless adventures available. If you do ever conquer your fear of flight, let me know. I could ratttle off a long list of things to see and do down here, no trouble. I’d also be more than happy to meet you and Mr Lemons for a taste of our local ales, they are some of the best in the world 🍻

reply

That is very kind of you! You never know! Maybe I could drive to California and then take a boat down there. 😁

reply

I preferred Wendy, Marvin and Wonder Dog.

reply

I looked them up and their pictures look familiar but I'm not sure I actually watched them. Did they shape shift, as well?

reply

No, they weren’t superheroes. Just teenagers and their dog.
