Have you ever seen a UFO?

The topic of UFO or UAP as experts now like to call them, seems to come up rather often these days.

Have you ever seen one of these objects? What do you think they are?

reply

as a kid at camp, star gazing alone in the middle of no where, I saw a large slow moving triangle shaped set of lights.
it was turning instead of going in a straight line. had maybe 8 tiny lights the size of stars, down each side.
very slow, SEEMED large to me, but i had no way of telling how far away it was.
it struck me as odd, because I'd never heard of satelites lighted up in that configuration - but had no idea as a kid.
(I recently saw STARLINK string of lights and that was pretty cool.)

I turned to look back at everyone over at the campfire and they were not looking up at all. I looked back up and couldn't find it again. so, I have zero proof, no photos, no witnesses, and never read or heard anything about it. just my personal memory. Have looked, but never seen anything else since.

My rational for coping with UFOs is simply that I may never know, and that is fine. I think it would be cool, but too much fakery, and almost zero evidence - other than navy/air force videos showing what COULD BE strange flight characteristics.
With video FX and especially AI now, there are far to many fakes out there for us to EVER know now.

But, I'm okay thinking there's probably more out there than I know of. Espeically government craft that is 10 to 20 years ahead of what we believe is possible, based on previous declassifications.

reply

You're fine with not knowing? Man I really want to know more about those things 😁

reply

I'm fine with going to my grave knowing I may never find out. I would PREFER to find out, but how life works, I'd rather accept kowing I'll never find out over regretting never finding out for sure, and feeling bad about that.
Does that make sense?

50+ years now and still zero real proof.

And now we're plagued with special effects, CGI, faked videos all over the web... how would we even know what is true unless we are standing right there, live when it happens?
I assume all videos are fake now because Occam's razor suggests the simplest explanation is usually the correct one: faking is easier than real proof. An 8 year old with a cell phone and a couple hours can create convincing fakes now.
it's not worth wasting my valuable time on, wondering. :)

reply

If aircraft are flying low you will see 2 or 3 lights.

reply

yeah, I have a friend with a plane, and I fly simulators a ton now, so I get the lighting.
these were all white lights, lined in a V shape, about 6 or 8 on each side. about as big as the stars, blacked out inside the V area. and none were blinking.
also, I didn't hear anything, just saw the movement.

reply

Um that was just a flock of geese that just ate a bunch of fireflies. common mistake.

reply

Ever since I saw Greg Brady trick his brothers into believing there was an UFO in their backyard I've never been able to trust the possibility of UFOs ever again. That's what happens when you jade people in their formative years.

reply

They are definetly out there, navy pilot Commander David Fravor chased one in 2004 and he thoroughly explains the experience, with footage on Joe Rogan. Navy pilots claim to witness these air /seacraft all the time

reply

Well that was just me being silly. In the same Brady Bunch episode astronaut McDevitt did say that it would be super egotistical of us humans to think that in this vast universe there's nothing else out there.

reply

It might not even be alien, could be some hi-tech military stuff, but the recorded sightings go way back hundreds of years

reply

I have not. I kind of wish it would happen, but at the same time I am grateful it hasn't. Seems like it could be a terrifying experience.

reply

Most sightings seem to be in the US, being an European myself I know only of a few claims and never seen one.

reply

Probably US military experimenting and harassing it's own citizens.

reply

This is not true becuase THE US HAS >>NEVER<< HIDDEN ANY TECHNOLOGY SECRETS FROM ITS CITIZENS.

--- sarcasm, tongue in cheek :D

reply

You are 100% correct, I retract my comment. Please do not hurt me three letter agency!

reply

hahahaha!

reply

No. Well, yeah, maybe when I was 9 years old and didn't know any better.

The govt. and others have to protect technology. I believe its advanced, secretive aircraft (human being aircraft) that are in fact the UFOs people think they see.

If some superior intelligence went through all the trouble of finding us primitive earthlings. Then went through all the trouble of getting here (the distances are so vast we can't even comprehend it) - don't you think they'd do something? Other than just taking a quick look and disappearing? It's absurd. UFOs- lets talk reality - protected aircraft that must remain secret, scammers, or of course , lunatics.

reply

Aliens just come and hover slowly in well lit aircrafts while giving Earth tours:

"...and down there on your left, you can see the lights from the Earth city called Phoenix. Use your ZoomEyes and you can see all the people staring up at us and pointing. We've also deployed a bunch of lit up drones behind us just to fuck with them. We're safe flying this low and slow because they always listen to media telling them its a goverment consipracy. Take all the picutres you want now.
Next up on our tour flight, we'll be visiting some cows and having some hands on fun!"

reply

RIght, I remember that nonsense. I'm gathering you think it's nonsense as well.

Are they out there? Yes, of course. Do they give a sh*&&^%$t about us, probably not. Or, even more likely, don't have a clue we even exist. We aren't all that important - plus our signals, if you consider the big picture - haven't traveled very far.

But , if in fact they ever do show up, we better hope they come here in good will.

CUz if not, we've had it.

reply

I've read tons about POTENTIAL aliens out there, and subscribe that we'll probabl ynever see them due to timing of who gets space travel and when etc etc etc. Planet life is so rare, etc but who knows. I can wish, but I don't really care.
Plenty of cool things to do in this life than worry about ET :D

I think THEY would come in peace (although makes for boring fiction and movies) because WE would probably visit some alien planet in peace. We'd all be so shocked to find each other, we'd try to communicate over everything else.

reply

I don't think there is "potential" - One thinks there is no doubt.

The universe is too large, literally billions of galaxies. True, the odds of life to form are astronomically unlikely.

But consider the law of large #'s. One thinks its a bit egocentric to think we are the only intelligent beings in the universe. They are out there somewhere.

Is it anything to worry about - no certainly not. Only if they show up here for reasons other than friendly exploration or peaceful communication. And even them showing up at all, well, it's not anything I'm losing any sleep over.

reply

Trying to recall a theory I read once.... cant remember name, maybe Fermi Paradox? about how many millions of planets probably have life, but how long it takes for them to develop space travel - if ever - before extinction, and the possibility of them traveling far enough to meet others, is an insanely low number percentage. or something. odds very much against that all working out. Not to be pessimist, I want to beleive. :) Would be cool.

An insane conspiracy theorist "friend" of mine claims we will MEET IN PERSON, extra terestrials by the end of this year 2024. We have a $100 bet on it (I'm against). They wanted to make it $1000, and I should have taken that up. I talked them down. But, they won't pay anyway, I know :D

reply

Yeah the Fermi Paradox is fine, problem is its from the early 1950s. Many discoveries have been made since then. Mainly 2-300 billion galaxies. I even read recently, some believe there are trillions of galaxies.

Yes the possibility of life even forming is astronomically low. However, we continue to find planets that can in fact sustain life. And what we've uncovered is akin to a grain of sand in the Pacific Ocean. Think of what we have discovered, and imagine what is out there that we have no idea about or ever will. There has to be intelligent life out there somewhere.

Really? Can I get in on some of that? Does he have 25 grand? Or even 100? If so, I'd like in on that bet.

reply

hahaha I'm sure they dont have the money

reply

Well , let me know if he pays you the C-note, if so, I'd like to hit him up for the next foolish bet he wants to make.....

LOL

But in all seriousness, your "friend" WILL lose the bet.

ANd also in all seriousness, I hope you get paid.

Good luck brother

reply

we had a falling out because I kept pointing out fails to all their conspiracies. BUT, my goal is to contant them Jan 1st to try to collect my money. At least *I* have integrity to stick to the deal.

reply

We'll see - hopefully you get paid.

This seems to be a theme that became popular with the internet.

Everything is a conspiracy. I mean, if this is what someone believes, great.

But when you start using facts, logic, common sense - the conspiracy idea ends up falling apart.

You can do it with UFOs. Consider the vast distances. Consider how insignificant we are. And of course the main thing - if in fact aliens did show up - there would be a reason. It wouldn't be to peak in and then hide again. One must remember, aliens deal with the same laws of physics we do. The same problems traveling the speed of light (wormholes have not been proven). It would be a massive undertaking for an alien civilization to get here (or even find us for that matter). They'd be here to stay and look around - there would be some kind of reason. As far as the govt. - why keep things secretive? SImple explanation there, too. Keep secret aircraft secret. It's better off letting people think its alien intelligence instead of having them probe into what it is we are really doing.

reply

exactly exactly exactly. I mean, if I were the gov, I'd keep the lore going to get away with things. People dumb enough to believe deserve to be bilked. Ok, that's harse, but it is a method to hide in plain site.

The internet has done SAD SAD damage to thinking. :( I'm at the very edge were I can see people see something on facebook that is totally crap and my family instantly believe it, and forward it on to 100 others, and each of them fwd it to 100 others. Then for NO REASON, people think its real. I used to post retractions with real info but it never does any good and wastes MY time.

reply

My wife is a shape shifting alien, so there’s that.

reply

does.... does she have a sister???

reply

She actually has 3 sisters and 5 brothers!

reply

any of them shift into Gal Gadot, and love cooking and cleaning?

reply

Take a look at my profile picture and you’ll get an idea (in Indonesia, food is their culture, so cooking is their passion; they seem to like cleaning too 🤷‍♂️).

Check out this story:

Signed, million man.

reply

No. I thought I did once, when I was 12, but mom explained the tiny moving light I was seeing in the sky was a satellite.

reply

Since the probability of aliens visiting here upon a casual, touristy basis is on the order of a 1 to the right of the decimal point with a lot of zeros to the left, I'm not much concerned w/ it as other than occasionally interesting phenomenon that usually have mundane accountings.

reply

IKR?
People never distinguish between the questions "Do aliens exist anywhere in the universe?" and " Were aliens trolling Cleetus the yokel in his backyard when no one was there to witness it?"

Big difference if you ask me.

reply

lol. exactamundo. ;)
