We all go to school and are taught the scripture, the word of God. Then, some of us feel rebellious and decide that our little ol' "research" somehow outweighs His word. Laughable.
Just what is it that manifests this absolute arrogance? We're mere humans given the privilege of being here, while His word is law. I truly hope that these deeply misguided contrarians will repent before the Judgement Day.
Ultimately, when children are taught about religion in school, they are taught it from a book (bible, Koran etc) and are told to believe it. They are told its true. And they believe because they are young minds.
When children get older they should decide for themselves. If this word of God we are taught at a young age were so powerful, there would be no atheists.
Just for the sake of argumentation, which is objectively more arrogant -
Stridently insisting or even sweely cajoling that people believe in fables from old books,
or
Trying to just get on in life with a minimum of authoritarian bullshit from without or within -
i.e. not being at all persuaded to believe in fables from old books ?
Fair question - no ? Which seems more ..................... pushy/arrogant/intrusive/controlling/fascist/phony ?
"Just what is it that manifests this absolute arrogance?"
The Bible refers to these people as, "...wise in their own conceit."
I was once listening to a radio talk show while driving my truck and the topic was about God, the Bible. A prominent atheist was the guest. At some point, the host, who was very civil, asked him a simple, direct, valid question. The atheist became flustered, refused to answer, and hung up the phone. That click was loud and pronounced in the cab of my truck. That know-it-all idiot had painted himself into a corner and with his tail between his legs, it was his desperate, only way out.
Did I say "all atheists"? I pointed out a particular one that stands out in my memory. You're coming across as very defensive, not to mention illogical. Why is it that there was no comment from you when I mentioned a couple of atheists I got along with quite well, liked and respected?
>Why is it that there was no comment from you when I mentioned a couple of atheists I got along with quite well, liked and respected?
"Not like the other atheists" vibes coming from you. Apparently it's okay for you to stereotype all atheists based on your particular experiences with them, but wrong if atheists do it to christians.
One of the comments you didn't respond to was about the one I met on this board years ago who lamented that the arrogance of atheists is real. Why would this thread topic even be here right now unless someone else made that observation? Yeah, it's a stereotype but not one of my creation. Sweet little old ladies and jolly fat people are also stereotypes but they do indeed exist.
What an absolute crock of shit and it's the other way around. It's atheists that file frivolous lawsuits because they feel so offended if they happen to see a public display of The Ten Commandments somewhere. And how are they going to handle In God We Trust displayed over the judge if said bs lawsuit even makes it to court? 🙄
