sequels you prefer over the original even though most disagree?

What are some sequels that you think are actually better than the first despite most considering them inferior? That doesn't mean most necessarily view them as bad, per say, just that most would say the original is superior.

For me, Police Story 2 blows the original out of the water. Not that I don't like the original, but the sequel impressed me much more as it has a better story, better action, better direction from Jackie, and even better emotional stakes. The first Police Story is a lot of fun but it's also very schizophrenic with its tone and direction. The sequel does a much better job balancing action, comedy, and drama.

What's yours?

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Addams Family Values (1993)
Rush Hour 2 (2001)
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
The Dark Knight (2008)
How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)

Idk that people disagree though, I just like these better.

Another one I forgot to mention is Psycho II. Yes, the original is a classic and is more significant in its contributions to the horror genre than nearly every other film, but I actually think Psycho II outdoes it a bit by further delving into Norman Bates' psyche but without any distractions this time around while also not being weighed down by the burden of censorship anymore.

If you haven't seen it, go check out Rob Ager of Collative Learning's video analysis of Psycho II. That film is every bit as layered and ridden with subtext as Hitchcock's original. It's a masterful work.

Damien - The Omen II
its like a coming of age film for satan. i found that pretty unique. it shows a little bit of damien's internal struggle dealing with puberty, girls, and being the anti-christ. when evil overtakes him and he kills mahrk, damien lets out a harrowing scream. quite different than what we normally see.
