There is no quoting, no tagging and lacks so many other features modern boards have.
Also where they have the image or video instead of a link which is just lame.

Another common denominator between them is how happy they became with the Ignore function. And I'll say it again, I consider it a badge of honor to have been one of the first, if not the first to be on their lists.

shareI've been here since this site started after the IMDb forums closed in 2017, and the only change I've noticed is, originally you couldn't reply to the archived IMDb user posts, but that changed fairly early on.
If I ran this site, these are the changes I'd make:
1. Get rid of the "share" button next to the "reply" button (has anyone ever even used that?) and put a "quote" button there instead. Pressing it would bring up the reply window with the text of the post you're replying to enclosed in quote tags, like pretty much every other forum has.
2. Ditch the weird, non-standard markup language (whoever heard of, e.g., "blockquote" [as opposed to simply "quote"] anyway?) and replace it with standard BBcode, like pretty much every other forum uses.
3. Add various buttons to the top of the reply window (quote, bold, italics, etc.), like pretty much every other forum has.
4. Make the ignore function work correctly (it should only ignore the person you put on ignore, not replies to the ignored person as well).
5. Add an option to view threads with the replies sorted by chronological order. This is useful for when you come back to a thread that you've already read, that has a bunch of new replies. To quickly find the new replies that you haven't read yet, just sort chronologically and jump to the end of the thread.
6. Being able to embed images in posts is a nice feature that most forums have, but it's only good with a mature crowd. If the crowd consists of childish people, threads tend to turn into vapid "meme" fests. So that's a change I'd only make on a trial basis.
The change I've noticed is political figures constantly on the front page and less talk about movies. It's been taken over by people obsessed with USA politics, get horny for old men in suits, then sling mud over which old man in a suit is their favourite.

MovieChat has a better quality of posters where FB they are mostly bickering, trolling, name calling children who just troll which has turned it into a cesspool.
FB has a better layout since it has features MC does not have and FB does not have annoying and disgusting banner ads.
