All of them sound intriguing, but my first pick would be the one about the Nile.

reply

Number 4.

The third book would be my first choice, although all of them sound interesting.

Most books about the Ripper murders focus on potential suspects and are often not very convincing. What sets this one apart is its focus on the victims, whose identities are known. It would be good to finally see these women humanized. Additionally, I'm sure the book will offer fascinating insights into the Victorian era, especially the lives of impoverished people living in Whitechapel.

Which one are you leaning towards?

i have read number two and four. the chernobyl book is one of the best books i have ever read. dying by radiation exposure is not pretty.

reply

Ooof I can imagine. I might read that one day. I've got like 5 books backlogged already I might as well add another one in.

UM...NONE...I GUESS 4 IF I HAD TO PICK...CURRENTLY I AM READING GEORGE BURNS AUTOBIOGRAPHY...UP NEXT...GEORGE BURNS' BIOGRAPHY OF GRACIE ALLEN...I ADORE BURNS & ALLEN...ESPECIALLY ALLEN...BUT BURNS ROCKS TOO.

reply

Burns made smoking cigars look cool, but I heard it was mostly an act and he didn't really smoke them. Is that true?

I RECENTLY FINISHED A SMALLER BOOK HE WROTE TO CELEBRATE HIS 100TH BIRTHDAY...IT'S 100 STORIES...ONE FOR EACH YEAR...AND HE MENTIONS THAT DESPITE BEING 100 HE STILL HAS A DRINK AND A FEW CIGARS EACH DAY...I THINK THE DUDE TRULY LOVED HIS STOGIES.

reply

Damn. And he still lived a long life.

reply

I WISH GRACIE HAD LIVED TO 100 TOO...SHE WAS A SPECIAL LADY...AND SHE ALWAYS CRACKS ME UP...SHE DIDN'T EVEN HIT 70...SHE DIED WHEN SHE WAS 69.

reply

2

Probably 4. Number 3 would be predictable, I think all the women would have led similar lives. Same when you read rock star biographies after a while they all seem the same.

HEY...I WANT TO BE FRIENDS...LET'S BE FRIENDS...OKAY?

#2, the one about the search for the source of the Nile.

And BTW, did anyone else see the "Top Gear" episode where they found the *real* source of the Nile?
