Do you think tattoos are trashy and think less of someone with them?

I think it depends. A small simple one is fine.

But a full body tattoo screams douchebag.

I think people are trashy regardless of their tattoo status.

reply

LOL! True. Very true. But tattoos seem to be advertising the fact.

reply

I don't count it against people in general but there is a lot of poor choices made. I have three but generally they can't be seen when I'm in my street clothes. I really got them for myself.

reply

Honestly?

Yes.

Is it right of me? No. But there you go. It is what it is.

That said, if I've already built up a long-term positive opinion of someone, and they then proceed to have tattoos, it probably wouldn't affect my opinion of them too significantly. It would mostly affect my opinion of someone I didn't know very well.

Also, the more simple, basic and plain the tattoo (i.e. a Chinese symbol or something, entirely in black ink), the less off-putting.

reply

Skin is beautiful. Tattoos ruin it and look "dirty". People I know with them admit it was a mistake, and I respect that.

reply

Tattoos are fine with me generally, they rarely reflect the actual nature of the person who wears them. Some of them are trash because not everyone is a good artist, but it's someone's preference or a mistake they made earlier in life, so it doesn't really make sense to judge someone based on those alone. For example, you wouldn't judge a 60-year-old today based on the music and fashion they liked when they were 10, that's kind of how I view tattoos.

"you wouldn't judge a 60-year-old today based on the music and fashion they liked when they were 10"

I would and do! I'm a terrible person.

reply

Ha! Maybe you just don't like kids and/or old people

reply

I think they're evil. People get into a mindset like they're designing their bodies like an avatar in a video game. Disassociates themselves from reality.

reply

To each their own but who the hell wants to make themselves easier to identify when the police are looking for you.

reply

Exactly.

No need to be more easily identifiable. I’m very law abiding but if some bad shit goes down I don’t want a dragon tattoo on my cheek and a ‘FUCK YOU!’ tattoo on all of my knuckles.

That’s just bad planning and very stupid.

It’s best to blend in with millions of other non-descript white guys👍

reply

I don’t have any and never will.
Most of my friends have tats, it doesn’t bother me one way or the other.
Many of them look pretty nice.

The only time I dislike them is when I see a gorgeous woman who has her entire calf or upper arm covered in tattoos. I think a guy covered in tats is a cool look but a really attractive Lady…not at all.
That’s probably me being ‘sexist’ or something but I just think leave perfection alone.

It’s none of my business in any event.

reply

I mentioned to a friend that I’ve known for 20 years that I had one and he said that he had no idea that I had a tattoo. I said, ‘exactly!’.

reply

Yes, you have a music note if I recall.
Nothing wrong about that.

reply

The only time the general public will catch a glimpse is at the pool or the beach.

reply

My wife has two, I think they are cute, they mean something to her and I like that very much.

My dad was a mean Irish Cop, he told me and my little sister that only Navy Sailors, County Jail convicts and outlaw bikers got tattoos…that kind of stuck with me lol!

reply

Toffees4Life?

reply

Some body art is very impressive. And for some people, tattoos just seem to work for them. But I have no plans to get any and don't see the point of them

reply

My good pal Eddie has a shoulder to elbow sleeve of The Terminator arm.
It looks really cool but I wouldn’t have done that.

I’ll be around for a hundred goddam years and no ink will be involved.
