Better album: Slippery when Wet vs New Jersey
Which of these two great albums from Bon Jovi do you prefer ?
shareWhich of these two great albums from Bon Jovi do you prefer ?
shareSlippery when Wet
shareProbably Slippery.
shareDefinitely SWW.
shareSlippery. New Jersey is very commercial and is the start of the band becoming more AOR in sound.
My fave Non Jovi is 7800 Farenheit.
I think NewJersey still had that hard rock feel of the first album.
I love both slippery when wet and NewJersey. Well I did love their latter albums too, I don’t mind at all they became more pop oriented.
Their country album was my only Nono and I’m also not interested in anything after the Circle . I like to pretend the circle was their last album and the band retired after Richie left.
Now I do wish Richie and Jon reconcile and we get a goodbye movie from them.
It would be so cool if the whole band members became producers of a movie about the band and give the film to Dexter Fletcher to direct.
I know their story might not seem that interesting but it would be just an excuse to listen to the band songs with Dolby sound on the big screen.
It would be their retirement tour, they get involved behind the scenes of the movie and go to the interviews to promote the film with cast.
You did better than I did, the last album I listed to was Have a Nice Day from 2005. I am very sketchy on what comes after that one. Jon seemed to start favoring boring ballads although HAND still has some good guitar based tracks.
After Richie left it became obvious that he was the real heart and soul of the band and Jon was just happy to keep milking it with AOR type stuff.
Both were equally important.
Jon had the great charisma and was a great frontman in general, while Richie composed the better songs.
For me both needed each other.
My biggest analogy is gronkosky and Brady. Brady is a wonderful player but needs Gronkosky he doesn’t play the same without him
It’s silly Jon doesn’t reconcile with Richie, he reconciled Joe Perry with Steven Tyler another dynamic duo.
I read in an article Steven said that Jon told him Joe and him (Steven ) belong together so they should talk and put their differences aside, so why he can’t talk to Richie and do the same thing?
Who cares who was right who was wrong, They need each other and should stop being idiots lol
I love Jon as a singer for me his voice still did well till have a nice day, the last tour he could sing pretty well.
But yeah bottom the band without Richie is not the same and it also wouldn’t be the same without Jon.
I loved both and they were one dynamic duo which when they got together magic happened
So yeah as much as I love them. They are a pair of idiots who are too proud to talk when we all know they want to get back together.
I like both of these albums but I prefer SWW.
shareIt's Bon Jovi, so none.
share^THIS^😎
shareI can't believe I was the only one to say this.
shareI saw them on their first tour, opening for Judas Priest. They got a very mixed reception from the metal crowd. "Runaway" was all over the radio at the time, which I absolutely hated.
To me, I thought they were kind of a Nightranger clone-but without the balls!
I thought "Slippery When Wet" was great and "New Jersey" wasn't nearly as good. The last song that Bon Jovi did that I really liked was "Blaze Of Glory" for the "Young Guns Ii" soundtrack. I liked early Bon Jovi a lot..."She Don't Know Me" was one of the better songs/videos in the days of early MTV.
shareSlippery was the album that made them a big name. My favorite song of theirs is “She Don’t Know Me” which came out a few years earlier but they weren’t the breakout band until Slippery.
shareShe don’t know me it’s a favorite between many fans of the band.
I like almost everything in their catalogue but from the underrated ones my favorite I guess is only lonely from their second album.
Anyway here my top 3 of their albums
Slippery when Wet
New Jersey
Crush
