Ughh you know you are getting old when you don’t know the songs which are cool right now

Seriously, I was checking what were the biggest hits of this year I knew no single one, I feel like I’m getting old. It’s so sad to be so out of fashion with the current music when in my teens and 20s I knew every single song on the radio.

Well, for the most part I don't like most of the current music so I never listen to radio stations and I have Sirius radio in my daily driver, so I can pick what I want and I use Pandora in the Miata and listen mostly to oldies in that.

Todays music really sucks, IMO.

I listen to a lot of music on Youtube so I still pick up on some new stuff here and there but I mostly seek out older songs and bands.

A lot of modern music lacks personality, one artist could just as easily be another one. Very similar sounding.

reply

For me it's when IMDB posts the most popular actors/actresses of the week/month on social media and I'm like, apart from one or two, I have no idea who these people are. lol

reply

Why be sad about it?

I hit that point about 20 years ago. I don't listen to modern music, and never feel bad about not knowing modern songs or artists.

If I don't listen to it, why would it bother me.

The trick is not to care.

Great tip, thank you so much for it
I was feeling like so old in my 30s being so out of fashion in music but now not so much.

At least my music knowledge stayed till 2010s an litt Afterwards I completely lost track on the popular songs and what’s hot right now.

The last current songs I remember

Échame la culpa-with Demi lovato and Luis Fonsi
Havana -Camilla Cabello
No more tears left cry- Ariana Grande
Shallow-Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper

I'm not really sad about being "out of the loop"

I don't really sought out celebrity news & I only follow a few of my faves on social media.

I just barely know the "popular actors". And I'm cool with that.

reply

As I get older I get more interested in music that was popular before my time.

reply

LOL - I was born in 1950 so for me that would be Big Band,(which I do love.)

The line that I heard, "when did the grocey store start playing such good music?".

That's when you are old, when the hard core stuff you used to hear in the clubs, is now considered easy listening music suitable to relax soccor moms buying bread.
